The program culminates with a week in Stockholm, the Swedish capital, and runs from May 31 through July 14, 2002. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2002, but we encourage all interested persons to contact us as soon as possible to receive further information and application materials. The program is arranged by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, a private coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, founded by Swedish immigrants in 1860. The College's Department of Scandinavian Studies is the largest of its kind in the United States, and the strong ties to Sweden have resulted in reciprocal exchange programs with two Swedish universities, scholarships that enable Swedish students to study at Augustana, and, since 1982, the Augustana Summer School in Sweden.
