The Seattle Public Library.
The Seattle Public Library will open on Sunday, May 23. Designed by OMA/LMN Architects, Seattle's new downtown Central Library is like no other public building in the world. Constructed of glass and steel, the building deconstructs the stodgy image of a dark, wood-paneled hall of dusty books, and replaces it with unconventional features like the light-infused "The Norcliffe Foundation Living Room" and towering "Books Spiral."

Professor Lebbeus Woods. "The Thesis is more than a topic or theme. It is a proposition about architecture that takes a definite position in a field of possibilities." In the final year of their studies, students at the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture pursue a Studio Thesis that is an individual expression of the ideas that inspire the architect in their production of architecture and form the basis of her/his self-criticism. During the Fall Semester, students participate in a Thesis Preparation studio which establishes the initial basis for the critical discussions that surround a work of architecture. As Professor Lebbeus Woods has stated, this preparatory studio is intended as a "collaborative exploration of issues and ideas that can be the basis of diverse individual theses." This project focuses on a complex urban and cultural condition through two stages;
