    Stamp collecting
Stamp collecting is the collecting of postage stamps and things related to postage stamps. It is one of the world's most popular hobbies Philately is a broader term for the study of stamps, and it is frequently (and wrongly) equated to stamp collecting. A philatelist often does but need not collect the objects of his study. In spite of its global popularity, it remains unprofitable for many individuals, giving rise to the phrase, "Philately will get you nowhere". (Who says stamp collectors have no sense of humor?..) However, stamp collectors are an important source of revenue for some small countries who create limited runs of elaborate stamps designed mainly to be bought by stamp collectors. The stamps produced by these countries far exceed the postal needs of the countries. Despite the unprofitability of the hobby for most beginning collectors, investing in stamps ( Philatelic Investment ) is growing in popularity among more advanced collectors. Rare stamps are among the most portable of tangible investments, and are easy to store. They offer an attractive alternative to art, other collectible investments, and precious metals. In addition, for those wary of investing in single-country mutual funds or individual stocks of developing nations, stamps may provide the advanced collector/investor with a means of profiting from their economic growth. Stamp collectors collect:
    • postage stamps Postal stationery - includes government-issued post cards, aerograms, air letter sheets, etc.; interestingly, the earliest postal stationery predates the earliest stamps- the Kingdom of Sardinia issued the first postal letter sheets in 1819.

    91. Welcome To Stamp Collecting
Welcome to stamp collecting. Again, Welcome to stamp collecting! The more you know about it, the more you will like it – Happy Collecting!
    http://stamps-auctions.com/lists/welcom1.html
    Welcome to Stamp Collecting
But stamp collecting can be done in a very simple way using stamps you find on your everyday mail and place on plain paper in a three-ring binder. Or you can give a "want list" to a stamp dealer. He will pull the stamps you want from his stock, and you mount them in the correct spaces in a custom-made album that you bought. Or you can go to stamp shows or stamp shops and spend hours looking through boxes of stamps and envelopes in search of a particular stamp with a certain postal marking or a special first-day cover that has a meaning to suit your own interests. Stamp collecting is a special mix of the structured and the unstructured, and you can make it a personal hobby that will not be like anyone else's. It's a world all its own, and anyone can find a comfortable place in it.
    "Stamp Collector" or "Philatelist"?
    Finding Material for Your Collection
You can easily find everything for your stamp hobby by mail. Stamps, other philatelic material, catalogues, albums, and so on are easy to get by mail order. The philatelic press carries advertising for all of these hobby needs, and stamp shows in your area also will have dealers there. If you are lucky, you also may have a retail stamp store nearby. Stamp shows may be small on - or two-day events in your local area, or very large events in big-city convention halls lasting several days and featuring hundreds of dealers and thousands of pages of stamp exhibits to see. Stamp shows also provide chances to meet other collectors, some of whom you may have "met" only by mail before.

Avoid Epson ink jet printers, its inks are excessively costly and you are required to use special expensive paper to achieve full quality. Also, Epson printers may blow their ink heads if you print text only (text with no pictures). After one of our Epson printers ruined its head before the 100th print, two other Epson printers were junked after 6 months because the ink was too overpriced. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Stamp Collecting! Here we hope to provide you with practical ideas on the best way of starting your own stamp collection. No one is too young (or too old) to have fun with stamps, so we'll try to answer the questions that puzzle stamp collectors of all ages.
What is ASTROPHILATELY? - From the beginning of time, humans have looked up at the heavens and wondered what lay beyond the world that we know.
How to Avoid Common Mistakes as a Stamp Collector - If you collect for fun, you will have lots of it. But if you collect for profit you will have very little profit or fun.
How to get space covers yourself - Part 1 - A cover is an envelope that was cancelled at the very launch, landing or mission date of a spacecraft.
How to get space covers yourself - Part 2 - I understand that this was the first time that a group of Soviet cosmonauts had officially signed philatelic items.
Getting Started in Stamp Collecting - Of greatest importance to the stamp collector is finding a source of collectible postage stamps at little or no cost.
