Press Release Press release (6 Mar, 2004) Sony and CBS Partner Together on HDCAM SR Tape Format Program Delivery Specification CBS Is First Major Commercial Broadcast Network to Adopt Sony HDCAM SR Tape Format for Both Acquisition and Delivery of HD Content
New York and Park Ridge, N.J., Mar 2, 2004 - Sony and the CBS Television Network announced that for the 2004-2005 television season CBS will accept high-definition content on the Sony HDCAM SR
Sony's Digital VTR SRW-5000
For the past five years, CBS has broadcast the vast majority of its prime time programs in the highest HDTV format, 1080 lines of resolution with 1920 pixels per line resulting in more than 2 million picture elements. CBS's constant goal has been to improve the quality and quantity of its HD offerings.
"The Sony HDCAM SR format has a number of clear advantages including its 593 Mbps data rate, 12 channels of digital audio, and its ability to handle pre-read and three lines of metadata data per field," according to Robert Seidel, CBS vice president of engineering and advanced technology. "The metadata capability is crucial to providing such services as captioning for the hearing impaired, V-chip data, audio metadata, and the broadcast flag for protecting digital broadcast content from unauthorized Internet redistribution."

86. Product Review - Mitsubishi SR-HD400 High-Definition Satellite Receiver
In addition, the srHD5 can decode both standard and high-definition DirecTV programmingmaterial making this unit similar in functionality to the RCA DTC100.
http://www.laaudiofile.com/srhd400.html
Product Review (July 2001) - Mitsubishi SR-HD400
High-Definition Satellite Receiver System M itsubishi is the most recognized name in the minds of consumers when it comes to big screen televisions, whether it's standard NTSC or high-definition. This reputation is largely due to Mitsubishi's dedication in producing large rear screen projection displays. While few televisions are capable of reproducing the full resolution of today's high-definition images, many of the latest set-top boxes, including Mitsubishi's latest entry, are able to generate reference quality video. The SR-HD5 outputs high quality video through its component (Y, Pr, and Pb) connectors. This can be a problem for some displays that only accept RGB/HV high-definition signals. Most Mitsubishi sets accept both signals, but their first generation sets require the use a special component-to-RGB converter box called the RGB-CV10 . This adapter strips the sync information off the Y component signal to generate separate horizontal and vertical sync timing signals needed for the RGB/HV timing, as well as communicating to Mitsubishi's proprietary communications connector. Unfortunately, there is no 720p output capability in the SR-HD5. Like most current high-definition displays, our test display was not capable of 720p. However, some systems would benefit from this format and so it should be considered when making a decision on a high-definition receiver. The SR-HD5 is not capable of sending standard NTSC (480i) from its component outputs. Since our display has a superb deinterlacer, we would have liked to see the 480i component signals on this box. However, the upconversion to 1080i was very good and certainly better than the RCA DTC100 we looked at.

91. An Introduction To The Unix Shell
sr Bourne. 1.0 Introduction. The shell is both a command language and a programminglanguage that provides an interface to the UNIX operating system.
http://www.iki.fi/era/unix/shell.html
An Introduction to the Unix Shell
This is an HTMLized version of Steve Bourne's original shell tutorial. I found the source at http://cm.bell-labs.com/7thEdMan/vol2/shell.bun and generated my own copy with troff , which I then edited into an HTML version. This 1978 classic (not sure about the exact date, corrections welcome) is not only historically interesting, it's still a good tutorial as long as you keep in mind that some minor details like the terminal interface have changed quite a bit (DEL is not usually the interrupt character anymore, etc). The same goes, by the way, for a lot of the old Unix documentation from Murray Hill, including the excellent book The Unix Programming Environment by Kernighan and Pike. You will find numerous other copies of this on the web, all of them as far as I can tell badly malformatted; for example, the pipe character will be completely missing throughout the document! The original version I found was "updated for 4.3BSD by Mark Seiden" but as I didn't have Seiden's troff source for the updated version, only an online copy with the usual formatting errors, and it had very marginal changes as compared to the older version at Bell (remark that this is not a csh tutorial; different mail spool directory; mentioned that section 2 of the manual covers system calls; BSD has some new signals), I decided to go with the original.

Undocumented SR-52
Introduction
The SR-52 contains some undocumented features. Some of them are quite useful, some of them are just a curiosity.
  • Memory registers
    Memory registers
The SR-52 is documented to have 20 memory registers accessible as memory addresses 00 to 19. What Texas Instruments did not document is that addresses above 19 can be used to access other registers inside the SR-52. SR-52 memory registers Memory Used for Documented memory registers, cleared by CMs Direct access to AOS memory registers, cleared by CLR Direct access to program step registers. Two unused memory registers, not cleared by CMs
    AOS memory registers
Direct access to the AOS memory registers is just a curiosity and probably not very useful.
    Unused memory registers
The inclusion of two unused memory registers is rather odd. Why waste two registers when everything else was shoehorned into the calculator? Why not 240 program steps? I have tried to find some function in the SR-52 that used these registers but found nothing.
    Program step registers
Direct access to the program step registers can be used for two things
    • More memory registers in programs not using all program steps.

Overview
Before implementing full blown software radio I needed to become familiar with CY7C68013 and to answer a few questions:
  • How much data can it pump thorough ?
  • How much data can linux USB driver handle without overburdening cpu too much ?
Also it would be a good idea to develop a few tools that would become useful later. Hence, SR-1: a usb device that is just CY7C68013 without anything to pass data from.
Components
I ordered my parts from Arrow electronics website. This went ok, except that the shipping was too much. I understood why after I got three packages: a large envelope, a carton triangular box (the one to ship posters in) and a long carton box. Turns out that they shipped the parts in standard packaging, even though I ordered only few chips each. Here is a photo of the long tray CY7C68013 came in: Not only that, but they also shipped the parts from three different locations. Note to self: if ordering low quantity parts from Arrow Electronics again order as few different kinds as one can and get others from someplace else that ships from a single address. The ICs I am going to use in SR-1 are voltage regulator Linear Technology LTC1763-3.3V

Target Population Students in grades 9-12 with a diagnosis of a neurobiological disorders, for example Touretteâs Syndrome, anxiety disorders, and Obsessive-compulsive disorders. Most students have cognitive abilities within the average to above average range. Most Venture students have on-going medical interventions that require close monitoring between home and school. Student Profile Venture students typically have a long history of receiving special education services in their previous school history. At some point during these years, they have required resources for a significant period beyond what is currently available in their current school environment. These educational needs are attributable to the impact of the unique symptoms related to their medical diagnos(es). These students are referred because they require a more intense level of staff support and services throughout most or a portion of their school day. They require a unique environment that provides personal space and helps the student maintain a positive school reputation. For various reasons, it has been determined that the behavioral strategies typical in EBD special education models, for have not been appropriate to meet the students unique needs. Mission/Goals Venture provides a specialized, small group educational setting for a very low incidence disability area of neurobiological disorders. The program goal is to provide a customized environment, low staff-student ratio, options for mainstream, small group, and individualized academic programming. In addition, intensive instruction in coping and calming strategies, and flexible design for specific needs. A focus on developing pro social behaviors, problem solving skills and independent community skills is emphasized. Transition and vocational programming will be offered.
