Stewarts have been acting for spinal cord injury clients since the firm was formed in 1989.They deal with all accident types wherever they occur. They appreciate fully that the demands of those with spinal cord injury, differ from those who are less severely injured. Above all that calls for attention to detail. So, for instance: In cases where liability for spinal cord injury compensation is unlikely to be heavily contested they obtain interim payments for accommodation, buying equipment and setting up care regimes. They employ an independent living adviser who is able to help with advice on equipment, vehicles, holidays and so on. So for more information on how we can help you to process your spinal cord injury claim, click on the link below.

    Spinal Injury Compensation
At the outset a spinal cord injury lawyer can only give a broad assessment of spinal injury compensation (commonly £1-3 million). However each spinal injury compensation case will be decided according to the severity of the injury and the needs/losses of the individual. Spinal injury compensation damages are awarded for the injury itself and the rest of the claim is made up of past and future losses. Usually future losses account for the largest part of the claim and would include for example, loss of earnings, care costs,accommo- dation costs, the costs of aids and equipment and medical expenses. Safety Tips Preventing Spinal Cord Injuries The following tips, based on information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Spinal Cord Injury Information Network, may reduce the risk of spinal cord injury:
    • Wear a seat belt every time you drive a car or ride in one. Make sure your children are buckled into a child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt (as appropriate for their age). Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of SCI. Keep firearms and ammunition locked in a cabinet or safe when not in use. The second leading cause of SCI is violence, most often related to firearms use. Prevent falls the third leading cause of SCI by

    ABOUT THE CENTER

The Center for Neuroscience and Regeneration Research at Yale University was founded in 1988, in order to focus the energies and talents of some of the world's leading scientists in the development of new treatments, and ultimately a cure, for spinal cord injury and related disorders. It is a model of inter-institutional cooperation, that brings together the strengths of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the United Spinal Association, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Yale University, all in a concerted effort with a singular goal: restoration of function in people with spinal cord dysfunction. Every year, in the United States alone more than 10,000 spinal cord injuries occur, most of which are sustained due to motor vehicle accidents and athletic mishaps. When the force of an impact exceeds the backbone's protective design, it can damage nerve cells and supporting cells of the spinal cord even in the case of non-penetrating injuries. Damage to these cells of the spinal cord also occurs in diseases of the nervous system such as multiple sclerosis. Spinal cord injury results in the interruption of nerve signals that carry messages to and from the brain, thus affecting sensory (ability to feel) and motor (ability to move) functions.

Spinal cord injury is a devastating condition that afflicts from 10,000 - 20,000 Americans annually. These individuals, mostly young men and women 16-30 years old, remain paralyzed for the rest of their lives, require continuous medical treatment and are mostly dependent on others. The cost of this care is high, the loss of productive income is enormous and the physical consequences of paralysis and pain are tragic. For centuries prevailing medical knowledge stated that once the brain is severely damaged nothing can bring it back. To a great degree that notion still prevails throughout the world. However, for the first time, researchers in this field are now saying,“Perhaps that dream may not be as impossible as we once thought. We could be onto something that might change that thinking forever”! THE MARGOT ANDERSON BRAIN RESTORATION FOUNDATION was founded to make those words become a reality. Extensive ongoing research now indicates that, within a relatively short period of time, the answer to the heart rendering devastation of brain damage may be finally conquered. The foundation is dedicated to creating, supporting and accelerating massive research into safe and effective means of restoration of brain functions. What Does Brain Restoration Mean? To this moment, the victims of Stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Damage and any of the twenty or more brain injuries as indicated in the accompanying poll, faced the certainty of extensive trauma and/or death resulting from these calamities . There is now hope that this prognosis can be mitigated or reversed through the new and promising Brain Restoration Research going on throughout the world. Where this assured death sentence was once accepted, Brain Restoration now offers the hope of dramatic improvement. To walk, talk and think again is not to ask too much and Brain Restoration may open the path to satisfy those desires. Progress is being made every day in this effort.
