Swedish Brigadier-General Jan-Gunnar Isberg is leading the U.N. force, which has taken over from a French-led multinational mission sent to Ituri's main town Bunia in June as a temporary measure to protect civilians from warring tribal militia. The new U.N. force has been assigned more troops and a beefed up mandate to stop the fighting between rival ethnic Hema and Lendu militia which has killed some 50,000 people since 1999 and forced half a million more to flee. Under the new mandate, the U.N. troops can deploy outside the multinational force's zone of operation, beyond Bunia to other towns in the Ituri region and use firepower to quell the militias who still roam the region killing, looting and raping. "Of course you can't be present around the clock, that would cost us too many people, but in six months we will probably have Ituri covered," Isberg, U.N. commander in Ituri, told Reuters in an interview Wednesday.

In September, 2000 She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. Kristen was visiting her father in California when she began experiencing persistant back pains. A C-Scan detected a tumor in her abdomen which was removed surgically. Since then she underwent extensive treatments, first at Childrens' Hospital in Chicago and then at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. Kristen was a Naperville resident most of her life, attending Naper Elementary, Washington Jr. High and graduated this year early as a Senior at Naper North High School. She was an honor student and a talented aspiring actress. Kristen's performances include several school plays as well as performances with Naperville's local production company, "Only A Stage". Kristen was an active participant in the American Cancer Society and was often asked to speak at fundraising events. You've Got A Friend In Me (This song was selected by Kristen to be played during the survivors lap at the Bolingbrook Relay For Life earlier this year.)

I am a single mom of a 16 year old mentally ill daughter. In March of 2003, she tried to kill herself by cutting her wrists. After 2 hospitalizations and hundreds of doctor and counselor visits later, I have hope that we are on the way to recovery. Due to the ensuing medical bills ( I could not afford health insurance for her, so she was uninsured at the time of her suicide attempt and the bills added up to $34,000), and missed time from work, I became severely financially distressed. My credit is not at all good because of all the bills, and in an attempt to lessen my monthly expenses and try to make arrangements on the medical bills, I looked for the leased expensive way that I could live. I found that if I bought a fifth wheel trailer and put it in a park I could bring my total living expenses down to about $800.00 a month, which would give me some money left over to pay on the bills. Since my credit is shot due to all the bills, a friend agreed to finance the trailer in his name so that I could get a decent interest rate (7.75%), and I would make all of the payments and insurance payments on it. I thought he was doing this to be nice and help me out during a difficult time, but I found out different.
