    Positive Thinking for Kids

    by Elizabeth Pantley
author of "Kid Cooperation, Perfect Parenting & more
During their growth and development, children go through many stages of self-doubt. They are always comparing themselves to others, and they often see themselves as coming up short. As parents, we can offset this natural tendency in our children by giving them the skills to think more positively. We need to arm our children with a positive attitude, so that they can stay focused in the right direction. We'll look at some typical negative statements from children, along with some positive responses from their wise parents. Modeling a positive attitude is one of the most effective ways of teaching your children. Children learn what they live. Find out more.

Special Education Information for Teachers This section provides teachers and other education professionals with information and resources about teaching students with disabilities. Some of the content will be of use to any classroom teacher. Other topics may be more appropriate for special education teachers or specialists working with disabled students. This site is about effective teaching:
The federal IDEA statutes specify the procedures for identification and program planning for students who have a disability that interferes with their learning. While this section includes a discussion of these procedures, our primary focus is on providing teachers with strategies to meet the individualized instructional challenges these students present. Some of these are extensions of good teaching practices you may already be using. Other strategies are specific to particular disabilities or situations. Go where you wish:
This is not a linear presentation. Feel free to jump to the sections that will be most directly helpful to you and your students. We have included some general information on differentiating instruction as a starting point. You will also find more detailed information on specific disabilities and their instructional implications, as well as listings of appropriate print and web resources that may also be useful in specific situations. Our goal is to help you quickly find the resources that will help in your classroom.

Major tax legislation in recent years has brought sweeping changes to the estate and retirement planning fields. Now, more than ever, your clients need the guidance of a qualified specialist to lead them through a tangle of complex regulations and analyze valuable strategies for maximizing their financial potential. With this in mind, The National Institute for Excellence in Professional Education, LLC has developed two comprehensive designation programs: In partnership with Surgent and Associates, LLC, the recognized leader in continuing education for tax and financial professionals, the National Institute has developed and maintains stringent requirements for attaining and holding these designations, providing assurance to the public that our designation holders have the practical knowledge and expertise to be leaders in their field. These requirements include the completion of a curriculum of core and elective courses, attainment of a passing grade on a rigorous exam for each course, meeting requirements of education and experience, and adhering to the National Institute code of ethics. After completing a program, designation holders are required to annually renew their designation and meet biannual continuing education requirements.

A set of Federal laws called IDEA guarantees access to appropriate educational programs for students who have a disability that interferes with their learning. If you think your child may have a disability, this section will guide you to resources which can help find out whether this is true. If you know your child has a disability, there are lots of resources here that can help you make sure that your child gets the most out of school and life You do not need to be a computer expert to use this site. You can move from page to page by clicking your mouse on the underlined text. To return to a page you visited earlier, click on the back button at the top left of your screen. There are two types of disabilities. Physical Disabilities Physical disabilities occur when part of your child's body - for example, an eye, ear, or hand - does not work normally. This can make it difficult for your child to learn in the same way that other children do, even though he or she may be just as intelligent as other children. Learning Disabilities Intellectual or learning disabilities occur when your child's brain is unable to process information in the same way or as fully as most children do at the same age. These disabilities be mild - for example, an inability to quickly identify letter shapes. They may also be more severe, involving moderate to severe mental retardation. Some learning disabilities will become less severe as a child grows older. Other disabilities will not change and will remain with a child permanently.
