Our software featured on "First Look: to Mars with MER" Live From Mars with Bill Nye
January 17 was "Mars Day" at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, with many Mars activities and exhibits, and a LIVE broadcast of the "Passport to Knowledge" "First Look - To Mars with MER " show, with Bill Nye as host and Orlando Figueroa and Bonnie Dunbar featured. Bill Nye said great things about our new "Mars Update", "Mars Panorama" and "Mars TicTacToe" software - buy it now from our web site (either as a download or as a disk), or get it free with purchase of an Earth Update - Space Update combo pack!
WELCOME TO THE "PUBLIC CONNECTION" Bring the Museum Home!(TM) You can now have the experience of a major science museum on your own personal computer! The Rice Space Institute created the first online, up-to-date, earth and space digital museum, tested and and on display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) (and at many other fine museums). It is now available for your home or school! Note: much of our material is available from our web site, but there's just too much to download - get it all on our CDs! Our software in written in Macromedia Director, so it's safe for an unattended school library, and yet you can update it with one click, like a browser!

35. Museum Of Depressionist Art
Art of the Depressionist school, which most other museums rejected as being too miserable, dejected, and hopeless to warrant space on a wall.
http://www.dearauntnettie.com/museum-of-depressionist-art.htm
About the Museum:
In 1919 Bagasse Mumblestoats, fresh from his WWI tour in France with the famed Lafayette Espadrilles, returned to his home town of Redbone with a burning desire. It was eventually cured with liberal doses of salvarsan and mercury, which allowed the young Bagasse to wed his childhood sweetheart, Gematria Pulverington-Wheatwhistle, heiress to the fabled Wheatwhistle tinsel-mining fortune. Gematria shared her husband's vision of a museum in Redbone that would attract worldwide attention and "really put the place on the map," as she so often put it.
Bagasse had liberated many paintings from French restaurants, bars and bordellos, and this became the foundation for the Mumblestoats collection. As all collections profit from a common theme, the Mumblestoats decided to specialize in the art of the Depressionist school, which most other museums rejected as being too miserable, dejected and hopeless to warrant space on a wall.

Statement of Purpose
For one brief shining moment the world paused in wonder. The typewriters in offices across America halted as millions watched the drama unfold. Children stared in awe at the spectacle. Older citizens, who were children when the Wright Brothers made their first flight, watched the culmination of the dream. There was a pause, a crackle of static, and the radio transmission, "Houston: Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed."
Neil A. Armstrong
Commander for Apollo 11, was the first man to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong's one small step on July 20, 1969, was truly a giant leap for mankind. It began seventy years earlier in the Dayton, Ohio bicycle shop of Wilbur and Orville Wright. In one lifetime, man lifted himself from the sands of Kitty Hawk to the lunar dust of the Sea of Tranquility. The first gallery features artifacts from early air achievements and reveals Ohio's significant role in the development of flight. The hot air balloon era is represented by a balloon basket and trophy won by Dayton balloonist Warren Rasor. The large airframe suspended from the ceiling is from the Toledo II, the first manned and powered airship to grace New York City skies. A reconstructed Wright Model G Aero-boat, built in Dayton and flown from the Miami River in 1913, is an unusual reminder of the pioneering accomplishments of Orville and Wilbur Wright from Dayton, Ohio.

Exhibit Guide Air and Space Museums Home The museum enjoys an international reputation as one of the best anywhere. For aviation enthusiasts of all ages, PASM brings history to life. Pima Air Museum had the humblest of beginnings. The museum was conceived in 1966 and a year later the Tucson Air Museum Foundation was incorporated as an educational non-profit organization responsible for the operation of the museum. Ten years later, on May 8, 1976, the museum opened to the public as an official Bicentennial event. The tremendous effort involved in opening the museum was put forth solely by volunteers. Picture if you will, 75 aircraft in a bare desert setting with the only structure on the grounds being a small tin shack used to sell tickets. Few tickets were sold during the first few months of operation but, today, about 160,000 visitors a year tour the museum. The museum receives no government funds and is supported solely by gate admissions, gift shop sales, memberships and donations. However, the museum admits all school groups grade 12 and below, at no
