The Associated School Boards of South Dakota is a legal corporation representing school districts in South Dakota. It has the authority under SDCL 13-8-10.1 and 13-8-10.2 to collect dues and assist school districts in the management of its schools. ASBSD activities are determined and directed by its members through a board of directors, consisting of 18 members elected by the entire membership for staggered four year terms. Any school board of any public school district in South Dakota or any board of education governing elementary or secondary education by a majority vote may become a member by payment of annual dues. The ASBSD is a nonpartisan organization. Its members work to improve public education, not to promote or protect selfish interests.
