Excellent I concur with the previous reviewer. Mr. Nossiter has produced a well-researched and fascinating chronicle of the case of Medgar Evers, including a detailed and chilling portrait of his assassin. Nossiter also effectively re-creates the eerie atmosphere of early 1960's Mississippi, where the Klan, the White Citizens' Council, and the Sovereignty Commission flourished, and where a man like Beckwith would become a sort of folk hero to his fellow racists. However, it is also a story of dogged determination and the quest for justice, as exemplified by Myrlie Evers and Bobby DeLaughter, whose efforts culminated in the long-overdue conviction of Beckwith. It is a story of tragedy and triumph, skillfully crafted by a talented and deeply insightful writer. Well done, Mr. Nossiter! Well written, emotional and insightful.

AMENDMENT AND PRAISE FOR AUTHOR WHEN I PURCHASED THIS INSPIRATIONAL BOOK ON THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE, I NEVER SAW THE DAY WHEN I WOULD BE READING AND RE READING A BOOK FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. BOOK HAS IMPACT ON ANYONE INTERESTED IN SOCIETY AND IT'S ENHANCEMENT AND IMPROVEMENT. THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF DR. GREER'S KIND OF LITERATURE AND FEELINGS EXRESSED IN WRITING. THE TEXT IN GENERAL IS NOT HEAVY READING BUT HAS CONSIDERABLE EMOTION AND GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A WHITE COAT SERVING HIS COMMUNITY ESPECIALLY WITH THE ENDORSEMENT OF HIS WIFE AND FAMILY. THE DOCTOR IS ALSO TRAINING DOCTORS HOW TO BECOME SENSITIVE TO THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. THE MEDICAL PROFESSION SHOULD BE USING THIS TYPE OF BOOK AS A METHOD OF TEACHING AND EDUCATING OTHER DOCTORS WITHIN THEIR HALLS OF ACADEMIA. AS AM INSTRUCTOR AT AREA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN BUSINESS, I WILL INCLUDE THIS BOOK ON MY SUGGESTED READ LIST FOR ETHICS IN BUSINESS AND AREAS WHERE THEY ARE DEALING WITH PEOPLE. True Medical Dedicated Professional I purchased and read Dr. Greer's book and was expremely impressed with the details that were modestly included. I did see his presentation on cable TV and his image is is as modest as the book is written. I feel that he is an asset to the medical profession and writing profession and would sincerely like to see more work by him in literature. I would like to stresss here that I have read this book 4 times and still pickup different things while reading this text. The book is an excellent credit to his modesty, profession, humbleness, an sincerity to society.

South America South America Program Regional Background The South America Regional Office works in three countries: Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. en español
All three countries were colonies of Spain until the 1820s and have histories marked by frequent periods of military rule. At the moment, democratically elected governments rule all three, but with weak political party systems and poorly organized civil societies.
These three countries extend over an area of 2.7 million square kilometers, most of which comprises the three chains of the Andes. Peaks range up to 6,000 meters above sea level, and deep intermountain valleys and the altiplano extend from Bolivia into southern Peru. The countries also cover the western Amazon Basin, which comprises the rain forests and the eastern slopes of the Andes, the dry tropical forests of Bolivia, and tropical lands that are subject to annual flooding.
The three Andean countries have levels of income and wealth below those for South America as a whole, representing a principle concentration of poverty on the continent. They have a combined population of 45 million people, 40% of whom are indigenous peoples.

ACLU Urges Congress to Probe Ashcroft's Civil Liberties Record in Terror Fight

Congress should ask "tough questions" of Attorney General John Ashcroft in his rare appearance at a Senate oversight hearing on the Department of Justice’s anti-terrorism efforts, the ACLU says. "Mr. Ashcroft has pursued a wrongheaded policy of eroding civil liberties in the name of national security," says ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero. "Congress has the responsibility and the unique opportunity to ask Ashcroft the tough questions about his actions and policies that undermine the fundamental values of our democracy." Read more
