Description of Research and Teaching Interests: Presently, my scholarship is largely focused on the role of race and ethnicity on children's development. It is my position that much of our prevalent theoretical and empirical work falls short in delineating the mechanisms by which contextual forces influence families and children of color. Specifically, I have been working on the role of culture, acculturation, and different sources of oppression (i.e., poverty, racism, and discrimination) in shaping human development.

ISSN: 0021-6704 "...the most exciting new venture in the field....The range and quality of contributors...augur well for the future, and the articles themselves display imagination and originality across an unusual spread of subjects. JSS has the potential to establish itself as required reading...in a variety of disciplines."
Tony Judt Recognizing the increasingly fluid methodological and disciplinary boundaries within the humanities, Jewish Social Studies is particularly interested both in exploring different approaches to Jewish history and in critical inquiry into the concepts and theoretical stances that underpin its problematics. Monographic and synthesizing approaches, issues of identity and peoplehood, the vistas opened by the integration of gender as a primary category in the study of history, the multiplicities inherent in the paths of evolution of Jewish societies and cultures around the globe and over time are themes of prime interest to the journal. It publishes specific case studies, engages in theoretical discussion, and advances the understanding of Jewish life as well as the multifaceted narratives that constitute its historiography. It is published three times a year. Subscribe to Jewish Social Studies
