Individual Sport Pins
Many pins depict the various Olympic sports. Collectors will find many styles of sports pins, some of which are associated with a particular Olympics, others with a country or one of the sports federations. Some are associated with corporate sponsorship.
I have never seen so many pins from one Olympiad as from the 1980 summer games in Moscow. They are made of a lightweight metal, possibly aluminum, and come in sets of different shapes and sizes. My favorite is the dangle-style, like the field hockey pin above left. The others shown are yachting, shooting, gymnastics, equestrian, water polo, and fencing. Here are a couple sport team pins I especially like. The first is a bilingual Russian diving team pin from Atlanta, very interesting in shape and styling. The other is a more traditional USA track and field pin, undated but associated with the sponsorship of Coca-Cola. When Vi and I started collecting pins in Atlanta, we wanted to have pins depicting the events we attended: rowing, basketball, and baseball. Vi chose pins with the green Atlanta '96 logo, like the rowing pin at far left.
I preferred the design of this basketball pin which, unlike others I had seen, did not have a figure of a basketball player. The games we saw were women's, but most of the pins I saw depicted a man.

Originally held in ancient Greece, they were revived by French Baron Pierre de Coubertin in the late 19th century. The Games of the Olympiad, better known as the Summer Olympics, have been held every fourth year since 1896, with the exception of the years during the World Wars. A special edition for winter sports, the Winter Olympic Games, started in 1924; since 1994 these are no longer held in the same year as the Games of the Olympiad.

NAPOLEON
Napoleon or Nap is a British trick-taking card game for three or more players which appeared during the 19th century after the Battle of Waterloo , and in which each of which receives five cards each and subsequently bids how many tricks they will take, five tricks being bid is called a 'Napoleon'. The player who bids the highest number of tricks chooses trumps and tries to win at least that many tricks. If a player has bid Napoleon, a subsequent player may bid ' Wellington ' which is also to win five tricks, but they bid more money (usually ten units). A player does not have to bid to win any tricks, they may pass instead. If all players pass the cards are returned to the dealer, shuffled and redealt. If the bidder wins the number of tricks declared, each other player pays them that number, three if they bid three tricks, four for four and five for Napoleon or ten for Wellington. Alternatively, if the bidder fails to win the declared number of tricks, he pays each other player the same amount as they would have paid him. The game of Napoleon is particularly played in the south-east of

Alpine Skiing
People began strapping skis to their feet as far back as 5,000 years ago. Englishman Sir Arnold Lunn and Austrian Hannes Schneider invented modern alpine racing. Lunn, a son of a London travel agent, spent his years traveling through the Alps and envisioning racing through the majestic range. Lunn organized the first slalom in 1922 in Muerren, Switzerland, and joined forces with Schneider two years later to organize the race that would become the first Olympic alpine event.

Competition
Alpine skiing is among the most exciting Olympics events and was introduced to the Olympic program at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Games with a men's and women's combined event, featuring a downhill and two slalom runs. After the cancellation of the following two Games because of war, alpine skiing returned to St. Moritz with a program of six events. The Oslo Games in 1952 welcomed giant slalom to the program and marked the departure of the combined event. The combined event did not return until 1988.
