http://www.alaskabackcountry.com/
Thank you for choosing Alaska Backcountry Adventures for your helicopter skiing and snowboarding vacation this spring. Alaska Backcountry Adventures was the first Heli-Ski operation in Valdez, and our location was chosen based on its proximity to the best terrain in the state, which is why ABA costs less for better terrain. ABA is located at the Worthington Airstrip on Thompson Pass, about twenty-nine miles from the town of Valdez. This helps us avoid the marine affected weather that plagues many other operations allowing for more flyable days. We are blessed at ABA by our location, as experienced by thousands of satisfied clients. The snow is already falling at Alaska Backcountry Adventures preparing us for another great season. Get ready to go deep! As always, you may still pay by the run at ABA, but we now offer full day packages that take you deeper into the Chugach Mountains. Our full day packages include six runs and a delicious lunch. You will share your helicopter with only four other groups. You may continue to ski past your six runs for just $85 per run. The average run length is 4000 vertical feet and can take you up to an hour to complete.
You may choose to pay by the run at ABA. This is a unique program at ABA, offered nowhere else. Ski just one run or as many as you wish with this program. The peaks around the ABA base area are the most dramatic in the range and you may ski any of them for just $85 per run. This is for the peaks immediately surrounding the base area, if you can see it you can ski it with the Short Haul Chip.

Ski Goggles
By Liz DeFranco, A.B.O.C., N.C.L.C. Ski goggles provide protection for the face as well as for the eyes; thus, many are large, covering most of the upper portion of the face. Sometimes, however, ski goggles are smaller and less obtrusive. Regardless of their size, the goggles are designed to fit snugly around the eye area, preventing wind, snow and ice from penetrating and interfering with vision. The lens area is intentionally large so you have a wide field of view and good peripheral vision Many ski goggle frames are made of softer, more flexible materials than traditional eyeglass or sunglass frames. Nylon, rubber and propionate are popular because they hold their shape, do not become brittle in the cold and tend not to injure the face if you should fall or impact an object while traveling at high speed. Many goggle styles are held in place on the head with a large, thick strap designed to make sure that the eye protection stays in place no matter how rigorous your activities become. This ski goggle with rose lenses is by Bolle Eyewear.
