Climate
Rainfall usually takes the form of sudden showers and storms which pass quite quickly, although more prolonged periods of rain can be expected during the monsoon season from November to January. December is the wettest month and February often the sunniest. July and August tend to be the hottest.
Clothing
For your comfort, bring light summer wear to Singapore. Blouses, lightweight slacks or summer dresses are ideal for ladies, while for men, open-necked shirts and slacks are all that's needed. There is air-conditioning in most buildings, so those sensitive to changes of temperatures might want to bring along an extra layer.
People
What makes Singapore such a special destination is its multi-cultural mix of people. The population is just over 4 million, and around 77.2% are Chinese, 14.1% Malay and 7.4% Indian. The remaining 1.3% comprises of people from all over the world who have chosen to make Singapore their home. Singapore's many races live together in harmony, united by the motto, "Many races, one Singapore", and it is this ethnic diversity that is one of Singapore's strengths.
Language
Safety
Singapore has a well-founded reputation as one of the safest cities in the world. Crime rates are very low and the streets are safe to walk in any time of the day or night. However, we do recommend that visitors to our city take the normal precaution of keeping their valuables in a safe place at all times.
