About Witchcraft
Greetings! Here you will find information on the religion of Witchcraft. After thousands of years of "bad press" we are coming out of the "broom closet" to educate the public about ourselves and our religion. Moreover, we acknowledge the need to establish a rapport with the ecumenical religious community. The Covenant of the Goddess, which compiled and distributes this information, is a league of covens and individuals from all over the United States, with members in Canada and abroad. It was incorporated in California on October 31, 1975 as a non-profit religious corporation, with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of any church. The Covenant has been a part of the Berkeley Area Interfaith Council for the past decade, and through it participates in the North American Interfaith Network. We have included in this information a brief statement on each of the following: Of necessity, we have merely highlighted these aspects for you. We can only begin to illustrate the entire panorama of our diverse religion, but we have tried to convey a basic understanding of the Craft of Wicca. On request we can furnish more detailed information or a representative authorized to speak on our behalf.

Religious Similarities
Spiritual Similarities:
It's often been said that if people would look beyond their differences, they'd find they have much more in common than they think. Learning about other belief systems doesn't mean you have to take on any part of those beliefs or practices. But understanding why others feel they way they do about certain issues and topics can go a long way to understanding each other. In other words, if you can learn about your neighbor and what they belief, then you can find a common ground for communication and understanding.
On this page, I'd like to try and show from my perspective, the similarities of the positive belief systems. We all practice the same things, we use different names to label our rituals and ceremonies. Take a look and see if you can find some similarities not listed here.
Witchcraft Sects There are many traditions/sects within the religion of Witchcraft. Often gathering in the form of a Clan or Coven. Prayer Spiritual Teachers General Practices There is no "bible" type spiritual text for Witchcraft. Many covens or clans have their own written or oral history known as a Book Of Shadows or a Grimoire.

ITHACA, N.Y. Carl E. Sagan, the David Duncan Professor of Astronomy and Space Sciences and director of the Laboratory for Planetary Studies at Cornell University, died today, Dec. 20, 1996, in Seattle, Wash., after a two-year battle with a bone marrow disease. The cause of death was pneumonia. A public memorial will be held Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at 2 p.m. in Bailey Hall on the Cornell campus. Sagan, 62, was at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at the time of his death. He had received a bone marrow transplant from the center in April 1995 for the treatment of myelodysplasia, a pre-leukemic syndrome. Sagan continued to supervise undergraduate and graduate students and do research while recuperating from his illness, but returned unexpectedly to the Seattle hospital this month. Astronomer, educator and author, Sagan was perhaps the world's greatest popularizer of science, reaching millions of people through newspapers, magazines and television broadcasts. He is well-known for his work on the PBS series Cosmos, the Emmy- and Peabody-award-winning show that became the most watched series in public-television history. It was seen by more than 500 million people in 60 countries. The accompanying book, Cosmos (1980), was on The New York Times bestseller list for 70 weeks and was the best-selling science book ever published in English.

Fleur Ng'weno has lived in Kenya for 35 years, and has a long involvement with the East Africa Natural History Society. Through EANHS she instigated Wednesday Morning Birdwalks, birdwatching outings in or near Nairobi, introducing hundreds of Kenyans and visitors to the birdlife of Nairobi and providing a training ground for young scientists and nature guides. Fleur Ng'weno photographed by Carl Taylor. Through these Birdwalks she discovered a small - some 25ha - but extraordinarily rich site for biodiversity bordering Nairobi National Park. The site comprises rocky outcrops, grassland and seasonal springs, pools and seeps. Surveys have already found over 350 species of plants, 250 species of birds and a good range of smaller mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Mrs Ng'weno wishes to establish the 'Seasonal Wetlands Biodiversity Park' as an educational facility. To have such a site so close to the city is a rare resource. The site is privately owned and liable to development, however through the creation of a pragmatic management plan and the building up of public interest, Mrs Ng'weno hopes to gain Government support and thus secure the Park's future.
