Volume 1, Issue 4 January 2004 Where does one go to find biographies of famous scientists that kids will want to read? The TEKS standards for the sixth grade call for students to connect science concepts with history and scientists (TEKS 6.3e). Many children have never known a scientist. All they know about scientists are misrepresentations that they see on TV or the movies. One problem in learning what makes scientists tick is that most biographies of scientists are written for adults and are probably boring to kids. These biographies typically emphasize the honors and awards, and the associated descriptions of the science are often excessively detailed.
