Boost Summer Fun -
Plan Family Outings to the Museums on the Boulevard
"I'm bored."
"Why can't we rent another video?"
"It's raining again!"

Grumbling like this echoes in most households this time of year. By midsummer many children become restless, pools lose their lure and TV controls too much time. Couples grow tired of trekking to the 'rivah,' and many lack either time or funds to travel. So what is an entertaining, affordable alternative?
Enjoy fun-filled family outings to the Museums on the Boulevard (MOB). Excitement and fun at museums? Good times here at home? Yes, the seven museums and attractions along Richmond's Boulevard offer enjoyment for all ages. One visit dispels the myth that all museums are stodgy, formal and "adult only" gathering places. Rather, these destinations are welcoming and friendly as they feature interactive exhibits, intriguing children's programs, personable educators and lively community events. All are close to home, and parking is easy. The cost is comparable to a movie ticket - and with some attractions admission is free! Most importantly, the Museums on the Boulevard present fascinating subjects, ranging from history and science, nutrition and nature, to current trends and popular arts. Walk the trail of Lewis and Clark, solve a Sherlock Holmes mystery, meet friends for the best of live jazz. Experience the life of a Civil War soldier, plant herbs in a kids' garden, learn how to crack history's mysteries, feed the farm animals ... and more! Families and friends enjoy quality time together; and, as an added bonus, they gain understanding about their own lives and life around them.

MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF PSYCHOLOGICAL INSTRUMENTATION
MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY
Upper Montclair, NJ 07043
Professors: Edward J. Haupt (1936-2001) and Thomas B. Perera
(Dr. Haupt died of cancer in February, 2001) This museum is dedicated to the PRESERVATION of historical psychological lore, and instrumentation. It consists of an On-Line Cyber-Museum with downloadable illustrations showing collections of early psychological laboratory research apparatus. As the museum develops, frequent additions will be made to expand the depth and completeness of the coverage of the field of psychology. A bibliography from the University of Toronto internet museum is included which gives relevant publications and other internet links.
Starting with an early German catalog of psychological and physiological apparatus, the museum is growing by developing historical threads that trace the development of knowledge in the major areas of psychological inquiry and show the apparatus associated with each area.
One of these threads traces the development of research into the human reaction time. You can follow this reaction time thread by clicking on:

Formative Years
From the Individual to Society
Credits Few figures have had so decisive and fundamental an influence on the course of modern cultural history as Sigmund Freud. Yet few figures also have inspired such sustained controversy and intense debate. Freud's legacy continues to be hotly contested, as demonstrated by the controversy attracted by this exhibition even before its opening. Our notions of identity, memory, childhood, sexuality, and, most generally, of meaning have been shaped in relation toand often in opposition toFreud's work. The exhibition examines Freud's life and his key ideas and their effect upon the twentieth century. Exhibitions Home Page Library of Congress Home Page Library of Congress

Apart from the history of the earth's geological origins, this museum also has an impressive sauropod dinosaur on display.
Its skeleton, all parts of which are completely authentic, was discovered in 1979 in the Azilal region of the High Atlas, where it lived 150 million years ago.
A reconstruction of this harmless herbivore some 15 metres long makes it easier for us to imagine how it looked when it was actually roaming the earth.
