The selection of HSF scholarships is uniformly administered throughout New Mexico and the United States. Successful candidates are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, personal strengths, leadership, and financial need.
To be eligible for scholarships, students must be United States citizens or permanent residents of Hispanic American background. They must be currently enrolled and attending a college or university in one of the fifty states or Puerto Rico and have completed a minimum of fifteen units of college work. HOW TO APPLY
Scholarship award is normally $1000 to $2,500. In New Mexico last year, 185 scholarships were awarded and over 3,000 scholarships were awarded nationally. Please keep in mind that the number of applications received exceeds the number of scholarship funds available. Last year, the ratio of selected students was three out of ten applicants. Verification of attendance and enrollment may be requested from your college.
  • The application period is from August 6th to October 1, each year.

UT Austin’s Texas Common Application for Scholarships for Entering Freshman Students has a December 1st deadline each year.
