Each of us needs sacred time in our busy lives.
Let this music be the friend that takes you there.
Glowing health is our natural state. Despite all the stress and drama in our daily lives, our bodies naturally seek to heal. Our ancestors understood that the healing of body, mind and spirit could be facilitated through healing environments and rituals including dance, temples of healing waters, toning, drumming, sweat lodges, meditation, massage and music. In modern times, we have come to associate healing with recovery from illness or injury. However, many people are realizing that even with vibrant health, we can still "heal" our mental, emotional and spiritual selves, in turn complementing and strengthening our physical presence.

Register Now for Liturgy and Ecology Conference
By Pastor Ben Stewart Registration is now open for Holden’s 2004 liturgical conference Sacred Time, Holy Ground: Rooting Christian Worship in Earth’s Ecology, to be held September 27 to October 1, 2004. The conference will include participatory worship and music, large and small group gatherings, workshops and opportunities to share ideas, and of course, chances to enjoy the beauty of the Railroad Creek Valley in its autumn splendor Featured speakers include Dorothy C. Bass, H. Paul Santmire, Ben Stewart, and musicians Mary Preus and Tom Witt. Pastors, musicians, worship leaders and planners and members of social ministry committees will all benefit from the conference. Sessions will offer a helpful mix of theological reflection and practical ideas for parish practice. The conference will ask: how can a commitment to earth-care be realized in worship life? What ancient ecological treasures are found in the Jewish and Christian liturgical traditions? What are daring, new ways to encourage earth-care in Christian worship today?

Throughout history, ceremonial rites of passage have been used to honor transitions from one stage of life to the next. The elements of the natural world and wisdom of cultural traditions guided the journey for individuals who were marking important transitions such as those from childhood to youth, and from youth to adulthood. The timing and prescription of ritual rites stood out prominently in community life. Though the symbolic markers of societal rights and responsibilities are now less distinct and seldom occur at the same time, our need to celebrate and integrate these transitions into the fabric of life has not diminished. The challenge for us today is to draw on the wisdom of both ancient and modern times to create meaningful rites of passage. Rites that succeed in this effort make use of ceremony as an agent of change. They create a context in which positive experiential learning can take place and an individual's role is not narrowly defined or expressively constrained. Ceremonial rites can challenge us to evolve our way of living and relating by developing a mythological story in our own lives. Thoughts, feelings, actions, and the relationship between ourselves, others, and our shared world combine to provide a rich arena in which meaning can be discovered and our story can unfold. One organization that has explored this arena is the Institute for Cultural Affairs (ICA). Over the past 27 years, ICA has drawn on its network spanning 31 countries to evolve rites of passage programs that make use of wilderness settings and honor the cultural traditions from which they're drawn. ICA programs include the Coming of Age Journey, Tour de Cultures, and Vision Quest.

The Virtual Church of the Blind Chihuahua (aka VCBC and dogchurch ) has been "the thinking cur's Christian presence on the Internet™" since it was launched on July 4, 1996. We invite all people of good will to visit and join us, including those other than Christian, and those other than straight. We also welcome moral relativists, even though they have eaten more from the Tree of Knowledge than they admit. If you are put off by the traditional approaches to Christianity, this site may be for you. You may bring your dogma, but only if it doesn't bite. Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy rating: "Mostly harmless." Welcome
to this sacred place in cyberspace named after a little old dog with cataracts, who barked sideways at strangers, because he couldn't see where they were. We humans relate to God in the same way, making noise in God's general direction, and expecting a reward for doing so. Hence our creed: We can't be right about everything we believe.

The Pyramids, Machu Picchu and Stonehenge are just three out of thousands of places around the globe known as "Sacred Sites." Sacred sites are believed to have been created by ancient peoples whose wisdom and knowledge has been lost over time. Sacred sites are located on energy vortices (like acupuncture points) along ley lines (powerful meridians of energy, like the earth's nervous system), on the surface of our planet. Sacred sites were and are meant to ignite inner wisdom, leading to a shift in one's attitudes and to spiritually-based action. Sacred sites vibrate with Universal Wisdom and psychic power. To visit any sacred site is like getting an acupuncture treatment which awakens and activates one's essential sacred nature. Lauren O. Thyme created TIME TRAVEL, as a result of a vision she received at the Cheesewring sacred site in England. TIME TRAVEL is a free information service on sacred sites and sacred site tours. Imagine that TIME TRAVEL is a huge shopping mall, with scores of sacred site tour companies and tours to choose from. Why travel with sacred tours? To travel to sacred sites with groups of like-minded people greatly accelerates and intensifies the energy and action of sacred sites through the potent force of SYNERGY.

Humanity, Gurdjieff realized, had entered a precarious new period in its evolution. The world would be destroyed, Gurdjieff warned, unless the 'wisdom' of the East and the 'energy' of the West were harnessed and used harmoniously. To effect this Harnelmiatznel, Gurdjieff gave the necessary shock: he introduced to the West a unique and powerful esoteric teaching of self-transformation. Gurdjieff called it the Fourth Way

Altar Protector
A cover made of cloth, baize or velvet which is placed on the table of the altar, during the time in which the sacred functions do not take place. Its purpose is to prevent the altar-cloth from being stained or soiled. It should be a little wider than the table and some what longer than the latter, so that it may hang down several inches on each side and in front. It may be of any colour (green or red would seem to be the preferred colours), and its front and side edges are usually scalloped, embroidered, or ornamented with fringes. During the divine services it is removed (Cong. Sac. Rit., 2 June, 1883), except at Vespers, when, during the incensing of the altar at the Magnificat, only the front part of the table need be uncovered, and it is then simply turned back on the table of the altar. It is called the vesperale , the stragulum or altar-cover. It need not be blessed. A.J. SCHULTE
