http://www.columbiarowingclub.com/masters.asp
Columbia Rowing Club was founded by masters rowers (everyone above 26 years) who wanted to row as a club and advance the sport of rowing in the midlands of South Carolina. The core of the club remains its masters rowers, and its future depends on the masters rowers, both women and men. Masters rowing at Columbia Rowing Club is primarily recreational and is, at best, loosely organized.
CRC encourages both recreational and competitive rowing.
Congratulations ...
... to all the Columbia Rowing Club Masters who participated in the 2003 Head of the South!!! CRC won the Leo Stadtmiller Memorial Award for the Overall Masters Champions of the 2003 Head of the South! Each participant helped earn points for this award. Congratulations!
Way to go CRC Masters Rowers.
Recreational Rowing
Most of the recreational rowing at present is done on an ad hoc basis whenever members can get to the river to row. Many of the more active club members own their own singles and/or doubles. Most of the club members are scullers rather than sweep rowers.
Opportunities exist for individuals to organize teams, boats and practice times for recreational team rowing in addition to the following:

The Other Boat Race - and you
Saturday 27th March 2004 Onto the nation's TV screens tonight will go the most realistic documentary about novice rowing ever to be filmed in the UK. 6:05pm, "The Other Boat Race". Yes, it's some nonsense about a "celebrity" shindig, no, they aren't really celebrities, yes it's only 55 minutes long and won't show half of what it needs to, but it is still a really important event for our sport. The reason is that it shows a bunch of people who really can't row to start with, not only picking up the basics in a relatively short time, but (mostly) getting really enthusiastic about it. The coaching varies in approach, but what unites Tim Foster, Gillian Lindsay, Martin Cross and Greg Searle is that they all know how to truly move boats, win races and are passionate about rowing. Whether you believe in getting new rowers out in sculls, making them row with more experienced people, or throwing them straight into novice coxed fours, there is a little bit of everything in "The Other Boat Race", and all of it - to a greater or lesser degree - works. And then there's the race. Even with 3 experienced rowers (well 4, for Cambridge) in each boat, it was a gamble taken by the producers that the crews would be able to cope with Tideway waters enough to race properly from Putney to Hammersmith, after only 6 weeks wildly intermittent training. Instead, it worked perfectly - the clash which has been trailed as a pivotal moment in the race was more a result of understandable over-aggression than of novicey inexperience.

Who We Are And What We Do:
The Chicago River Rowing Club (CRRC), located at the mouth of the Chicago river in the heart of downtown Chicago, is the oldest boat club on the Chicago River. CRRC has pioneered recreational use of the Chicago River since 1979, when it was founded for the purpose of demonstrating and promoting the potential of the Chicago River for non-motorized watersports. CRRC members pursue the Olympic watersports of canoeing, kayaking and rowing. CRRC specializes in team (quads/doubles) and single sculling , and provides coaching, equipment, and boat storage for members ranging in skill level from beginners through elite competitors, and in age from 18 through 70. CRRC also operates introductory weekend sessions for beginners, and competitive summer camps for intermediate and advanced rowers. CRRC's mission is to develop a fullscale, first-class community watersport center dedicated to the pursuit of all levels of canoeing, kayaking, and rowing on the Chicago River. After nearly two decades, CRRC has succeeded in making non-motorized watersports an integral part of what is happening on the revitalized Chicago River. The CRRC Highlights:
