My name is Monica W~ Pen~ Monica M Martin. I was born in May 1970, in a small town called Longreach, which is located in Outback Queensland, Australia. I was baptized a Holy Roman Catholic. (And as you can clearly see, I’m a good little Catholic girl. Lol. ) My father is of Irish~ Scottish background and was born in Longreach, Australia. My mother was of Irish ~ Papua New Guinean background and born on the Island of Sudest, Papua New Guinea. (She died in 1983.) I am one of six siblings, three children from my father’s first marriage and three from the second. David, Philip, Rebecca, Duncan, and William, I love you all!
Personality oneimmature me:
I grew up in country Queensland a true "farm girl," horses, cows, and produce… Need I go on? Lol. I moved to Brisbane and married at the age of eighteen, separated four years later and gave birth to my son James the following year, 1993. I obtained a divorce a few of years ago. I posed nude for Hot and Steamy girls of Oz in the Australian People magazine in 1995. (Still keeping up that good little Catholic girl image. Lol)
Personality twomature me:
I’ve volunteered at my son’s school the past few yearsto think I once hated classrooms! I love researching whatever subject has caught my attention, at this point in time that subject is human behavior/ psychology. (I hope to formulate interesting/realistic characters.) I avidly study history, Anthropology, Archeology and Egyptology. (LOVE Kemet) I study English, although I still, not literally, “suck” in this field, I do try to present a clean MS to my editor. (Poor Girl) Remember, I did say try. French…err…I really suck at this too, but I’m trying… Most of my studies are to better my writings and others are merely obsessions. :-)

Researching a Stock on the Net Dateline: 11/09/98 This page is a step by step guide to researching a Canadian stock on the Internet. We'll use it to try and find the information needed to fill in the Value Investor's Worksheet we published here two weeks ago. But before we jump in, let me tell you about a new regular feature at Investing (Canada) - The Pundit Report . It will be listed every week on the Main Page right under the link to the newest feature article. The report contains a random sampling of commentary from various analysts and writers on the net - either from emailed newsletters or from information on selected websites and will be updated regularly with fresh analyses. Take a gander and let me know what you think. Researching a stock used to take a lot of leg work. Unless someone had a lot of time to devote to it, one used to have to rely on one's broker for such information. But with the Internet it is easier and faster and it is creating a whole new breed of investor - the investor who relies less on his broker for information and more on his own resources. But there are pitfalls in the process. There is a lot of misinformation and even disinformation out there. Even cases of out and out fraud. Note the recent crackdown on con artists by the

travel writing: from free trips to flat tires (10 weeks)
The glamour of travel writing attracts many people. After all, who wouldn’t want free trips to exotic destinations? But it’s not all easy living. Journalists must concoct ideas, sell them, plan the trip, research extensively in the field and then craft a gripping article. It’s work. Nice work, if you can get it, but a far cry from slobbing on the beach with a margarita. The 10-week course prepares you to enter this competitive arena. You’ll explore the different types of travel writing, including first-person memoirs, destination guides, historic reflections and news flashes for globe-trotting executives. You’ll learn how to devise appealing pitches and target the right editors. You’ll discover tricks of the trade, from snagging those coveted press trips to filing taxes and building a journalism portfolio. You don’t need to be a world traveller. Reveal the secrets of your home-town for visitors. Record an exceptional hike or festival. Share family holiday hassles and tips on how to avoid friction. The important thing is to learn how to capture a journey’s sensations – even the frustration of a flat tire – then spin them into published work and paycheques.

Internet Research Resources for Mystery and Crime Writers
By Greg Knollenberg The Internet contains an enormous number of research resources for crime and mystery writers. Accurate portrayal of criminal proceedings, police investigations, correct use of poisons and correct crime scene analysis all help add up to a more believable crime. Crime writers can find resources online including forensic websites, police websites, governmental resources and crime sites covering different types of criminal activity. Using these websites as references, crime and mystery writers can create more believable scenarios and also develop ideas for new stories. This article will guide you to some of the best crime resources and sites from which you can find more crime resources on your own. Finding Crime Resources The most common method for finding crime resources is to use a search engine or directory. For information on using search engines, be sure to read "

Essay Writing: Overcoming a Student's Nightmare
By Sharon G. Boddy The most common form of writing is the essay, and knowing how to write one effectively is a fundamental skill for writers of all ages. The essay is not only used for academic papers. Feature articles, business reports and even "letters to the editor" follow the same pattern: introduction, body, conclusion. Unfortunately, few are taught the essay format thoroughly in high school, and when students enter university they may be writing them for the first time. Never fear! Essay writing may seem an insurmountable obstacle, but once you learn the "tricks of the trade," writing them becomes easier, even enjoyable. The method used is almost identical for freelancers, so if you are an aspiring writer, learning the essay format can put you ahead of the competition. All essays follow the same pattern of production: choosing a topic and focus, preparing an outline, researching, drafting, and producing a final version.

writing and researching your family history
by Mary Emma Allen
DISCOVERING PRESENT DAY "COUSINS" An enjoyable aspect of researching and writing about your family history consists of finding present day "cousins," descendants of your ancestors. As I've delved into my various family lines, I've made the acquaintance of descendants of great aunts and uncles. What fun to correspond with them and even meet them in person. This enlarges the picture we may have of an ancestor and gives us more family members to share with.
Leaving a Trail Whenever I've researched and corresponded with historical societies, libraries, and genealogical societies, I've included information about contacting me. This might include name, address, phone number and e-mail. I've also traced "cousins" who did this, too. When researching my Great Uncle William (Buffalo Bill) Mathewson who settled in Kansas Territory in the mid-1800s after growing up in New York State, I kept running across the name a name of another researcher. But when I wrote to her known addresses, I was always too late because she had moved. Eventually a librarian at a historical society looked up people with her same surname in the phone directory and sent me their addresses. I wrote to all three and found one was her mother-in-law! What fun finally to get in contact with this the researcher, hare information and develop a friendship.
