    113. Protestant Ecclesiology & Epistemology Is Always Ultimately Self-Defeating
now and then throughout history. That doesn t get them anywhere unless they grantthe councils real, binding authority, as the early and medieval church did.
    http://ic.net/~erasmus/RAZ33.HTM
Protestant Ecclesiology and Epistemology is Always Ultimately Self-Defeating Protestantism cannot settle its internal differences; each branch or sect can only (ultimately arbitrarily) assert its own authority. Thus, Calvin asserts his, Luther his, Zwingli and Menno Simons (Mennonites) and George Fox (Quakers) and William Booth (Salvation Army) theirs. There is no way of resolving these "denominational dichotomies." And that remains true no matter how increasingly biblical and "catholic" the best brands of Reformed ecclesiology get. Protestants will continue to split, and all justify their splits based on the Bible. The internal incoherence of this and the utter inability to achieve resolution is surely evident. But Protestants must come up with something that "ain't Roman," so they persist with the system that is so obviously internally inconsistent and incoherent, as (in effect) the "best of two bad choices." This is their cross to bear. It follows from sola Scriptura (even the most sophisticated, highly-nuanced versions imaginable). The simultaneous appeal to the Bible from many contradictory parties can never be resolved, whereas in Catholicism it can be because we have a final authority which claims to be binding on all Christians, not just the tiny portion that is "us."

    114. My Scottish Medieval Fantasy Wedding Page
April 21, 2001 The theme was Celtic/medieval/renaissance/Fantasy. Includes ideas that may be helpful to others.
    http://www.apryl-knight.com/my_wedding.html
This page will detail all the preparations for, and details of, my wedding, which took place on April 21, 2001. I hope it helps others who are planning a fantasy/Scottish/Rennaisiance/Medieval wedding. And PLEASE, if anyone has any suggestions or links or anything I don't have here, please let me know....it would be very helpful!
My mother and I made my dress. Click on the link below to see what it looks like. I had fairy wings in place of a train or veil, and they were lovely! I have several sets of pictures back, and they're posted under Wedding Attire! I did kind of a cross between Guinevere and Titiana (apparently, according to legend, Oberon was the son of Ceasar and Morgan LeFay). More Medieval, still with wings.
6/25/02 - Well, I'd like to thank everyone for their warm wishes and kind comments on this page. Unfortunately, while the wedding was pretty much perfect, the marriage wasn't, and Robert and I are now divorced. It's not as bad as it seems - we've parted on friendly terms; we just weren't meant to get married! Everything's for the best, though - that's my philosophy! I'm leaving this page up because I've had so many people email me to tell me how much the pics and info helped them plan their weddings. I'm still adding links to it as I find them - there are some great new ones under "wedding dresses" - check 'em out!
1/2/01 - I've got the material for my dress!

    115. Cariadoc's Miscellany: Period Sources For Story Telling
Article by David Friedman and Elizabeth Cook on period sources. Bibliography, links.
    http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/cariadoc/period_sources_for_story_telling.html
[This is an article from Cariadoc's Miscellany Miscellany Introduction
    Period Sources for Story Telling
One of my favorite activities at events is to wander from table to table at a feast or from campfire to campfire at a camping event, telling poems and stories. I know of no better way of pulling people out of the twentieth century, if only for a few minutes-especially if the story is presented as a medieval story told by a medieval storyteller. Thus, for instance, a Muslim storyteller can follow a recitation of "The Raven Banner" (written by Malkin Grey and based on an incident in Njal Saga ), which contains a reference to Odin, with the explanation that Odin is, as he understands it, a Djinn or Demon whom the Northmen worship as a god, thus confounding the unity of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. In much the same way, a Christian storyteller telling an Islamic story might make some comment concerning the false doctrines of the Paynim. In both cases, the point is not to start a religious argument but to make the teller's world-view into a medieval frame for the medieval tale. This is, incidentally, an entirely period device; both the Indian collections described below and the Nights are structured many layers deep, with stories inside stories inside stories.
