Tourism Swift Current

Welcome to the home of Jane Elliott and Cottontail Quilting. I specialize in custom quilts and offer machine quilting to clients across North America.
Cottontail Quilting is located on the Canadian Prairies, which itself has a rich history of quilting passed down from generation to generation.
My focus is on traditional designs which are available in a wide range of colors and patterns. You can have a quilt custom designed using your choice of patterns, colors, fabric, and sizes. Each quilt is made to order using quality, pre-washed 100% premium cotton fabric, in colors and patterns designed to compliment each quilt.
My quilting business gives me the opportunity to do what I enjoy and this web site allows me to exchange stories with people around the globe. We all share an interest in quilting and that is what makes it such a wonderful community.
Feel free to drop me a note whenever and from wherever. In the meantime, thanks for visiting Cottontail Quilting. I hope you enjoy the site.

Quilting Basics for Beginning Quilters A quilt that can be enjoyed and cherished for years to come is the result of a step-by-step process.
To understand the process, read through all these pages before you embark on a quilt. Then come
back for specific information to create the perfect quilt. Cutting Methods
Successful quilting requires precise cutting of pieces. The traditional method employs scissors and
patterns called templates. It's the best way to cut curved pieces, and many quilters enjoy it for other
shapes, too. Or, you can speed-cut squares, rectangles, and triangles using rotary techniques. Piecing
Patchwork piecing consists of sewing pieces of fabric together in a specific pattern. There are several
approaches to piecing a quilt. Understanding each one helps choose the one that you'll enjoy most. Appliqueing
With applique, you create a picture by stitching fabric shapes atop a foundation block. We're offering
some shortcuts for today's busy quilters. Quilting
A quilt top becomes a finished quilt when stitched to batting and backing. The layers can be secured

Quilting is one of the fastest growing crafts of the new century. It is also one of the oldest crafts in America. The benefits of quilting are enormous. It brings people of all walks of life and all generations together. It is a hobby that can be practiced alone or by groups. Organizations, churches, etc. are able to use quilting as a way to help those less fortunate, while at the same time promoting togetherness of the membership. Many small businesses have been started, catering to the needs of quilters. People travel great distances to attend quilt shows. Quilt clubs have sprouted up all over. Here we will do our part to promote the craft. You can help by sending a donation to help us keep this beautiful site on-line. Please mail to: Quilting - Box 1955 - Woodland, Washington 98674.

HISTORY OF QUILTING
Julie Johnson Random House Dictionary defines a quilt as "a coverlet for a bed, made of two layers of fabric with some soft substance, as wool or down, between them and stitched in patterns or tufted through all thicknesses in order to prevent the filling from shifting." The word quilt comes from the Latin culcita meaning a stuffed sack, but it came into the English language from the French word cuilte The origins of quilting remain unknown, but historians do know that quilting, piecing, and applique were used for clothing and furnishings in diverse parts of the world in early times. The earliest known quilted garment is on the carved ivory figure of a Pharaoh of the Egyptian First Dynasty about 3400 B.C. In 1924 archaeologists discovered a quilted floor covering in Mongolia. They estimated that it dates from somewhere between the first century B.C. to the second century A.D. There are also numerous references to quilts in literature and also inventories of estates.

Everything today is made by machines - cold, impersonal, identical. Fifteen thousand other people are wearing the exact same shirt that you just bought from the Gap. Think about it: you'd probably be a lot happier if everything you owned were handmade specifically for you. If we don't fight this mechanization of society, humans will eventually become slaves to machines (although that is With visions of apocalyptic terror now running through your head, you can ease your pain by learning how to make a personal, homemade quilt. The art of quilting has seen a resurgence in recent years, and making a quilt not only allows you to participate in artistry, but also gives you a comfy warm blanket as an end result. Quilting is not that tough. Those pioneer women did it in the 1800s, and they didn't even have electricity. So hold on to your saddles, buckaroos, and (in bad Western accent), "let's larn us some quiltin'."

180. Fall City Machine Quilting Company - Home New
A homebased professional quilting service which uses a hand-guided quilting machine and provides many custom quilting options including basting and binding.
http://www.gendro.com/
Welcome Quilters! We are located in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range in western Washington. We are a home based, family owned and operated business. Our number one goal is to have satisfied customers that keep using our services. That is why we bought the best quilting machine we could find. The Millennium longarm quilting machine from American Professional Quilting Systems is that machine. The most notable feature is the automatic stitch regulator (8 to 15 stitches per inch). This will guarantee an even stitch in the tightest of corners. With the best training in mind, Debbie attended Longarm University. The university has many classes tailored to the professional machine quilter. It is located in Puget Sound and is less than an hour away. The order page is now able to create accurate machine quilting estimates based on your exact quilt size and the quilting style you want. The choices range from a quilt basting service, pantoqraph quilting, basic custom quilting, intricate custom quilting or heirloom quilting. Also you may select the level of quilt binding service you want to have performed. First you must read the Pricing page and have an understanding of the different quilting styles and binding levels offered before you can create estimates and order. Our new area of specialty is Memory Quilts. Many people have ask us to make Memory Quilts. These quilts have been made for anniversaries and birthdays. One example is to send plain white blocks to all friends and relatives with letters explaining the different things that can be done. The number of blocks returned determines the overall size of the final quilt. We have the equipment to scan, color print and iron on transfers from photos sent through e-mail. Pricing varies depending on final size and amount of special materials used. See the gallery for Memory Quilt samples. Call if you have questions.
