PTA/PTO Council Meeting Minutes February 13, 2003 The attendance at this meeting was not recorded. The meeting's discussion centered on the budget. Dr. Bailey brought the presentation that would be presented to council. He explained that the increase in budget to be requested would just cover the increases in costs for insurance, overhead expenses for the buildings, etc. Dr. Bailey explained that one of the major concerns he had at that moment was how to present the budget where all the nuances were understandable. How to explain the budget effectively. Dr. bailey made the presentation to the members present. After trying to write everything down and failing miserably, Dr. Bailey said that he would make available to us a copy of the presentation. At the time these minutes were done it was not yet available so there is not a copy of it enclosed. ( Click here to go to an online version of Dr. Bailey's presentation.

Athens, Georgia is an exciting place in which to live, teach and learn for people of all ages. Located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Athens offers a quality of life second to none. Home to the University of Georgia, Athens is a progressive city of approximately 100,000 residents and the center of education, culture, finance, health care and shopping for Northeast Georgia. Athens offers its residents the amenities found in larger cities without sacrificing its small-town charm. The Clarke County School District is a first-class, progressive urban/suburban school district which serves a diverse population of 12,000 students. Our school district is comprised of fine schools, dedicated and talented teachers, involved parents and a supportive business community. We offer a competitive salary schedule and a comprehensive benefits package. Our average starting salary for first year teachers is $31,000.
