Department of Psychology: General Information
Back to Psychology Welcome to the Department of Psychology at Central Washington University. Our department offers strong programs of study through which students can develop an understanding of the perspectives, content, and methods of the science and practice of psychology. The department also serves as a center for research related to human and animal behavior and provides psychological and educational services to the community. The department offers the following degree and certificate programs:
Undergraduate Programs
  • B.A. Psychology (45 or 60 credits) Minor in Psychology
Graduate Programs
  • M.S. Counseling Psychology M.S. Experimental Psychology M.S. Organization Development M.Ed. School Counseling M.Ed. School Psychology Certification School Counseling Certification School Psychology
The undergraduate major in psychology is designed (a) to prepare qualified students for advanced study in the discipline and (b) to provide an avenue into employment in one of many areas in which behavioral science skills and knowledge are important, such as personnel positions, public relations, administration and management, health services, teaching, and many others. We do this in a context which provides opportunities for students to structure parts of the major and supplementary activities to their particular interests. Students have many opportunities to work closely with faculty in research and field experiences. With 22 faculty members, the department is large enough to provide diverse educational and research experiences, but small enough to treat students as individuals.
