Thank you all for the feedback! Of course, at a practical level, there are important differences between languages. Different language families make certain techniques easier than others. You'd rarely be able to write a useful procedural program without any variables, but it's common in functional languages. Expressing a logic problem in terms of objects and classes will require a different approach than that of an imperative language.
