Women and the politics of fundamentalism in Iran
Journal no.5 1994. pp15-20. Haleh Afshar examines what Islamic fundamentalism means to women who choose to adopt it and how, if at all it could be used as a means for political struggles. The intention is to move away from the usual condemnatory approach to Islamic fundamentalism and consider it in the light of the views and activities of its adherents. WHAT IS FUNDAMENTALISM?
Fundamentalism has for long been associated with greater or lesser degrees of oppression of women. Given the rise of fundamentalism and the decision of many women to consciously reject feminisms of various kind and adopt the creed makes it important for some of us to consider what it is and why so many have chosen it. It may be worth while to stand back and consider the reasons that many Muslim women have offered for adopting Islamic fundamentalism and "returning to the source" both in the UK and elsewhere. Part of the problem of understanding fundamentalism has been in terms of definitions and terminology. Muslims themselves do not use the terms fundamentalist at all; the twentieth century Islamists argue that they are revivalists, and are returning to sources of Islam to regain a purified vision, long since lost in the mire of worldly governments. Shiias, who are a minority school of Islam, but form 98 per cent of the Iranian population, have for long seen themselves as the guardians of the poor, the dispossessed and those trampled on by unjust governments. 169. Bi Politics Book
A collection of essays that explore the history, strategies, philosophy, and diversity of politics and theory in the United States.
http://www.black-rose.com/bipolbook.html
Bisexual Politics
Editor: Naomi Tucker Associate Editors:
Rebecca Kaplan and Liz Highleyman Assistant Editors: Susanna Trnka, Judi
Addelston, Dajenya and Rachel Kaplan
Published by the Haworth Press Inc Cover design by Freddie Baer This anthology presents a vivid collection of essays that explore the history, strategies, philosophy, and diversity of bisexual politics and theory in the United States. The 33 contributors develop a multifaceted approach to defining bisexual politics. The authors analyze different organizing strategies, formulate new bisexual political theory, provide a vision of future directions for redefining sexuality and gender, and educate activists and allies about current issues pertaining to the bisexual community. This book is the first of its kind to document and analyze bisexual politics and theory. While existing literature on bisexuality has focused on identity, coming out, and forming communities, Bisexual Politics takes the vital next step into bisexual political theory and activism. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT BISEXUAL POLITICS ``This brilliant new anthology is sure to become a classic text, since it contains so much of value. It includes the beginnings of a history of the bisexual movement and communities, a plethora of challenges to "identity politics," presentations of the case for coalition building as well as arguments in favor of a separate bi movement, and visionary voices from the many diverse elements of the bisexual spectrum. Readers of all sexual orientations will find much within these pages to spark debate, recogniton, and radicalization. The issues raised by these passionate voices have implications far beyond more limited concerns like whether or not to include "bisexual" in the title of an organization or an event. This is the next generation. Ignore them at your peril!''

Politics of India India is the largest democracy in the world. India has the biggest number of people with franchise rights and the largest number of political parties, which take part in election campaign. In the 1996 national elections, almost 600 million people voted and an average of 26 candidates competed for each of the 543 territorial constituency seats. Elections are held at different levels. The two major election levels are at national level, after which the national government is established and at state level after which the state government is established. Elections are also held for city, town and village councils. There are different political issues in Indian politics. Some are national level and some regional level. Some communities just demand more economical and social rights for their communities. While others demand more autonomy for their cultures within the Indian states. Some demanded autonomous states within the Indian Union, while the others demanded to be independent from India. With all its problems India survives as a single state with democratic character. But a number of political problems still exist and remain unsolved in India.

The Real Reason the Government Won't Debate
Medical Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Re-legalization
An Open Letter to All Americans
By R. William Davis Documented Evidence of a Secret Business and Political Alliance
Between the U.S. "Establishment" and the Nazis -
Before, During and After World War II - up to the Present. PREFACE Before the Gatewood Galbraith for Governor Campaign in 1991, few Kentuckians knew that the plant that the federal government had demonized for over 50 years as "Marijuana - Assassin of Youth," was, in fact, Cannabis Hemp, the most traded commodity in the world until the mid-1800s, and our state's number one crop, industry, and most important source of revenue, for over 150 years. Today, thanks to the efforts of pioneer hemp researchers and public advocates such as Galbraith, Jack Fraizer, Jack Herer, Chris Conrad, Ed Rosenthal, Don Wirtshafter and others, the federal government's unjustifiable suppression of our state's right to develop our most valuable and versatile natural resource, is facing increasing opposition from an informed public. Hemp is now recognized as the number one agriculturally renewable raw material in the world, and perhaps the only crop / industry which can guarantee us industrial and economic independence from the trans-national corporations.
