During the summer our visitors can learn Polish and participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities in and around Krakow. We can also arrange accommodation. Our school is based in the centre of the city and our fully qualified teachers are friendly and approachable. We create a relaxed and informal atmosphere in which to learn Polish. highlights: Throughout the year we offer a wide range of courses to suit almost every need. We have long term courses in Polish, English, Spanish and Russian, intensive courses, individual lessons, business Polish and short summer courses of Polish for foreigners. Long term Polish, English, Spanish and Russian courses begin week commencing 4th October (first semester) and week commencing 3rd February (second semester). There are two 90 minute lessons per week and each semester runs for 14 weeks. The cost for each semester is 180 €. (Balch Newspaper Collection) There were at least three Polish newspapers of long standing in Philadelphia, including Gwiazda (The Star), established in 1902. Gwiazda 's founder, Stephan Nowaczyk, had emigrated to the U.S. with his family in the 1870s from the portion of Poland then controlled by Germany and trained as a printer (his father's trade) before establishing Gwiazda in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. THE PHRASEBASE APPROACH
Many studies show that in most countries, native-speakers only tend to use about unique words and phrases on a daily basis. The question then becomes... which words and phrases? Phrasebase answers this question.
In 1997, I was sent to Japan on an overseas assignment while working for a major software corporation. With a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, I was never required to take a single class in a language other than English. And having been raised in Middle America, I never had any exposure to foreign languages.
Yet, I found myself suddenly living and working in Tokyo, Japan, and confronted head on with a language barrier that hindered my most simple, routine and everyday activities.

Then right there on the spot, I entered the phrase and had a friend help me enter the corresponding Japanese equivalence. Without knowing it at the time, I was actually learning to write in
