Study it carefully and refer to it frequently. If anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Remember that for every college course you take, you will be required to spend up to three hours outside of class for every hour of class time. (For this online course class time is the three hours per week that you are expected to work on assignments. It is important for successful completion that you schedule these hours and adhere to your schedule.) You should also expect to spending at least six, and as many as nine, hours each week outside of class meetings and your scheduled work time working on researching and writing Online courses do not require less work than classes that meet in classrooms. In fact, they often require more work if getting to a computer several times a week, working online, going to the library many times during the semester, and reading and writing on your own sounds like hard work to you. If you believe that the any of the responsibilities described above sounds too difficult for you to achieve, if you are not good at self-discipline and time management, then this course is not for you and you should drop this class and enroll in a traditional Comp 2 course immediately.

A ten page analysis of the theme of absurdity in Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass” and “Alice in Wonderland,” as compared to Franz Kafka’s “The Trial.” The paper notes that while both Kafka and Carroll present universes in which their protagonists are aliens, Carroll’s is run according to a rigorous (if alternative) logic, and Kafka’s has no logic at all. Bibliography lists five sources (secondaries are attached).

10 Ways to Curb Snacking Binges

    by Renee Kennedy
    ...
    www.nutricounter.com
When you're dieting, the thing that can really wreck a healthy eating plan is that awful feeling that comes over you to just grab a huge bag of potato chips and polish it off while watching your favorite sit-com. We've all been there before! There are things you can do to help yourself avoid the ugly urge to snack uncontrollably.
  • First things first: Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plan to have healthy snacks throughout the day. Do not skip meals or planned snacks. Skipping nutritious foods will make you feel uncontrollably hungry!
  • If you can, avoid purchasing any unhealthy snacks. There are so many "good-for-you" snacks on the market today, there is really no reason why you should have a cupboard full of ring-dings and cheesecurls. Start learning to read the back of the packages of foods - look at the fat content - if it says that the fat content is over 5% per serving - look for a different snack.
  • Here's a list of healthy snacks that are low in fat content, but still high in satisfaction (and I'm not talking about carrots and celery!): - pretzels (watch the sodium content, though.) - graham crackers - any type of low fat crackers - (there are many different varieties - read the back of the packages to make sure that they are low in fat. Again, be wary of the salt content.) - low fat cookies - popcorn without butter (you can buy butter flavored salt.) - a cup of fruit with non-fat cool whip on top or a spoonful of honey. - fat free pudding - a stick of sugar-free chewing gum - a couple pieces of licorice - a cup of raw veggies with non-fat salad dressing for dip (ok, so you may have to eat a few carrots.)

I felt like a cadet at West Point that first week of fifth grade. Mrs. Stith was our sergeant, commanding us to “stand at attention,” “walk single file,” “keep heads up” and “speak only when spoken to.” We had only two rules to obey in her classroom: never talk while Mrs. Stith is talking, and do your homework! We did not dare break these rules, fearing an arduous obstacle course to climb as our consequence—or perhaps a firing squad awaiting Mrs. Stith’s command to release an arsenal of bullets into our bodies. My fifth-grade mind was not accustomed to such a demanding teacher. Coloring outside the lines, reading The Great Adventures of Encyclopedia Brown and building mobiles with construction paper had been the norm. My mouth gaped at the sight of endless reading packets and workbook pages. I was in boot camp now, and Mrs. Stith was going to toughen up the troops. Mrs. Stith could see our agony, our pleading eyes hoping she would blow her whistle and let us take a break from the work. But she yelled at the class at any sign of softness. Twenty pages of reading every night kept our stamina up. I cried at the thought of learning how to spell “dictionary,” “miserable” and “criminal.” I sweated over decimals. How could I learn all this and still have time to watch

I have scoured the sale ads, and I am off in search of the perfect floral composition. This is complicated on so many levels, because I am a perfectionist. Of course, I could hire someone to plant my urns and window boxes, but I receive an almost unnatural satisfaction in doing this particular task myself. I have been collecting urns and window boxes for years. So my first task is to arrange these containers on steps, patios and in garden beds. This provides guidelines to my ultimate purchases. (Many of my urns are already out, so they can weather, because I want to appear as though I know what I am doing.) Notorious for instant gratification, I overplant my vessels, even though I will have to thin and trim later. I can live with this duty for the beauty I reap at once. With the needed plants in mind, I read all of the garden ads and find the best prices, as well as the best quality. There are many places, hardware stores included, that guarantee plants and trees. (Keep this in mind if you need the safety net). And off I go.
