    Dear SIG Members,
Here is some good and some not so good news. Let’s start with some good news. First of all, our SIG has grown considerably as there are 75 IATEFL Poland members who expressed their interest in CELT SIG. They come from all over Poland and represent all kinds of educational institutions from primary schools to universities. I think it’s great that the spectrum is so wide. It also means that there is interest in cultural studies on all levels of English Language Teaching. Next, the INSETT drama course for teacher trainers held in Toruñ from 10 to 14 February 2003 was a great success. See the report below. There is also some good news concerning forthcoming summer events that might interest some of you, e.g. the Hornby Regional Schools organized in Poland and other countries of Eastern and Central Europe or the Australian Kaleidoscope. The latter has already interested quite a large group of teachers. The course organizer, Ewa Osiecka, has confirmed her promise to organize the course in July.

Armenian Cultural Association (ACA) was founded in Cracow (Poland) in 1990. It is social-cultural organization of Polish Armenians. ACA acts by virtue of The Associations Law registered by Vojevoda Court in Cracow. ACA is led by the board of the following structure: Adam TERLECKI (chairman), Antoni AMIROWICZ (secretary), Adam MUECK (treasurer), Vahe AMIRBEKIAN and Mikael NAZLOJAN (board members). The board is elected by The General Assemble of ACA members, cadence is 4-years-long. The cadence of the present board expires in September 1998.
The main purpose of ACA activity is integration of Polish Armenians communities as well as documentation of their history and culture. The Association also maintains contacts with Armenia and Armenian Diaspora abroad to help Polish Armenians keep spiritual contact with the rest of the nation. The permanent form of ACA activity are members meetings associated with presentations of reports related with Armenians and Armenia (regularly, once a month). In addition depending on financial abilities Association organizes Pan-Polish congresses of Armenia-related associations and groups (so far three such congresses have taken place: in 1991, 1992, 1994). The third form of ACA activity is publishing of "Bulletin of the Armenian Cultural Association", which is distributed among people interested in the subject due to their subscriptions.

GoPoland! : Where To Go Regional Tastes If finance, business, and the general frenzied pace of a nation's capital is what you're looking for, come to the Mazowsze region. While some sightseeing is possible in Mazowsze, you'll find the true cultural and spiritual heart of Poland contained in the region of Malopolska . You'll also find some great skiing in the Tatry Mountains. Nearby Silesia provides some impressive peaks as well, and an interesting mix of industry and culture. For a taste of the sea, for a relaxing time in a health resort, or for a look at the most German part of Poland, visit Pomerania . Its neighbors - Mazury and Warmia - offer the nature lover a cornucopia of diversions: come here for the myriad lakes, the incredible forests, and all that is possible to enjoy in them. Continuing to the east, Podlasie also contains lakes and forests, but with two important differences: this less-visited region sees fewer tourists and its natural beauty is (not coincidentally) in better shape. Finally, go back to the very origins of the nation in Wielkopolska ; here you can explore the original capital and assorted ethnographic parks which pull a bit of the past into the present.
