About the System First Aid ... Login Poisonous Plants
Although many plant ingestions occur each year, serious poisoning from the accidental ingestion of plants is extremely rare in both adults and children. Many plants contain potentially harmful substances if eaten in large quantities, however, very few are capable of causing severe poisoning if eaten in small amounts, as would occur in a child taking a few bites from a plant. The following plants have been reported and documented to be capable of producing serious or life-threatening poisoning in humans. Not all of these plants are indiginous to the United States but may be found here as cultivated plants.
