Puntarenas/Region Brunca, Costa Rica Project Update July 28, 2003 The staff in San Isidro has been equally busy planning evaluation events with our partner agencies and tying up details of debriefing. Our project has been fortunate enough to receive donations from Colgate-Palmolive this year of over 3000 toothbrushes which the volunteers will incorporate into their dental health education presentations and give as gifts to school children in their communities. Overall, we have been a happy and amazingly healthy group and currently everyone is deeply involved in community projects and daily English language classes. Fila Guinea : The volunteers have been working with the community to complete the construction of a fence for the school. This week they have also been collaborating with the youth group and are planning to paint the inside and outside of the school salon. They have continued with their adult and child English classes and will be beginning health education activities in the elementary and high school this week. In their free time, they have been watching Costa Rican soccer matches and hanging out with their host family. Sabanillas : This week, the volunteers have done more health activities in the clinic and the school and are helping out with English classes with the youth in the high school. They are organizing a peer education group that will support local youth and continue the health education activities that the volunteers have begun in the clinic. In their free time, they have been playing lots of soccer.
