To partially address the projected deficit, the library is looking to cancel two publisher journal packages - Kluwer & Springer. We are examining the possibility of cancelling all journals from both publishers and then resubscribing to the titles that have a cost per download of $40 or less. The "lost access" would be replaced by a combination of commercial document delivery and interlibrary loan. This change would save the library about $150,000. Why $40 per download or less? Because $40 is the break even point between purchasing access to the whole journal and ordering individual articles via commercial document delivery.
