This technology appeared in late 19th century. Photo-sensitive material in this process is mixed microcrystals of silver chloride, silver bromide and silver iodide. The term "emulsion" is commonly used (although technically incorrect) because of the emulsion-like appearance when microcrystals are precipitated in viscous water-gelatin dispersion. alternative processes ), such as cyanotype. Yet smaller group of people decided to stay in silver gelatin process by producing photo-sensitive material in house. This site hopes to serve as a resource for this group of photographers.

Photoshop 7 Professional Photographic Techniques > Customer Review #1: Not a truly professional book

I was attracted to the word professional in the title, and thats why I bought the book. This turned out to be a poor reason to buy the book, and I was disappointed with much of the content. I suppose technically speaking this book does cover techniques that professionals use, but it doesnt really cover them to a professional extent. You can buy whole Photoshop books dedicated to things like restoration or color correction. In this book, they have brief chapters. Maybe this book is supposed to be an introduction to professional techiniques Even then, I found some of the approaches to be questionable. On many occassions there was definately a more flexible, less destructive approach to the presented problem (ie. a more PROFESSIONAL way). Books Ive read that I thought were good professional photographic technique books would include PS Artistry, PS Master Class, Photoshop Color Correction. I gave it 3 stars (cause you cant pick 2.5), and because it might be useful to someone else; as well it didnt strike me as a hit n run scam book. Maybe it would be alright for an intermediate user, but check out other books too.

Includes techniques in infrared, polaroid manipulation, intimate portrait, handmade print, toning, black and white creations. Workshops held in California, Provence, Tuscany, Burgundy.
http://opalenik.com/workshops/
S ome 24 years ago in my first workshop, I launched out on a new journey to gather and share accumulated experience and life passion for this art and therapy we call photography. This has been a rewarding process of teaching, learning from others, and capturing some amazingly beautiful and emotional moments in time. During the workshops, I'll show a wide range of techniques for making and manipulating images as we discover and (re)create a part of ourselves in our art. Many images shown on these pages were created during such workshops. T he time together is a journey both visually and experientially a time for the soul to get away from the daily routines and refresh the creative energies. The food, wine and ambiance are worth the trip. Please join me in making new friends, exploring a new environment, and letting yourself experiment with finding new ways of expressing yourself through your photographs. I f you cannot join me in a scheduled workshop, please inquire about personal instruction or a class tailored for a small group held in your area or exotic location I may know.

Photographic materials have complex physical and chemical structures that present special preservation challenges to the librarian and archivist. Since the birth of photography in the late 1830s, many different photographic processes and materials have been utilized, each subject to deterioration through time and with use. Although deterioration is an ongoing natural process, nevertheless much can be done to slow the rate at which it takes place in photographs. Deteriorated photographs may require specialized conservation treatment by a professional photograph conservator, often a costly, skill-demanding, and time-consuming procedure. For the majority of photographs in research collections, single-item conservation of deteriorated photographs is probably not a feasible or a cost-effective preservation solution. Instead, preventive conservation actions such as and maintenance of a good environment, promoting proper care and handling through staff and user education, and the use of good quality storage housings, will have a more lasting, positive impact on the preservation of a collection.

Discover something new about the beautiful wildlife of Colorado! Just choose animals, fish, or birds from the left side of this page to begin your exploration.
When viewing wildlife, whether it's as large as a bear or as small as a mouse, keep in mind that watching animals is both a science and an art. Science takes into account the natural history and physiology of the animal you're watching, including how the animal senses predators, what comprises its diet, and where it lives. The artistic side of wildlife watching comes from knowing how close you can get to the animal without disturbing it or causing it any harm.
Here are some basic principles of wildlife watching to follow:
Wildlife watching can be an exciting, lifelong pastime. The increasing threat to natural habitat makes it ever more important to use common sense, follow the guidelines for observing wildlife, and do what you can to ensure that the wildlife will remain wild for our future generations to see!

The supplies needed to get started
Making the stencil Printing Making multicolor prints ... Sources of supplies You can use your browsers back button to come back here and select another section. Introduction Silk screen printing evolved from early Japanese cut paper stencils which were used to decorate textiles. The isolated elements of the stencil were held in place with human hairs or with fine silk threads glued across them. Eventually silk fabric was used to support the stencil. Early in this century, commercial screen printing developed rapidly. Today, everything from grocery store signs and shampoo bottles to china and printed circuit boards can be screen printed. During the depression, in the 1930’s the government financed Federal Art Project (part of the WPA) encouraged the development of silk screen printing partly to create "original art for the masses". Many emerging and recognized artists of the time responded by creating "serigraphs". This was a name for fine art silk screen prints as opposed to commercial work. The WPA artists investigated creative methods of making stencils directly on the screen. They used blockouts and resists, cut paper and cut film stencils as well as simple photo silk screens. Ever since the creation of the National Serigraph Society in 1940, screen printing has been recognized as a fine art medium.

How Landmines Work
by Kevin Bonsor Table of Contents Introduction to How Landmines Work Landmine Basics Anti-personnel Mines Anti-tank Mines Location and De-mining Techniques Lots More Information One of the most deadly legacies of the 20th century is the use of landmines in warfare. Anti-personnel landmines continue to have tragic, unintended consequences years after a battle and even the entire war has ended. As time passes, the location of landmines is often forgotten, even by those who planted them. These mines continue to be functional for many decades, causing further damage, injury and death. Photo courtesy U.S. Department of Defense This PMA-2 landmine was found hidden under snow and foliage in Rajlovac, Bosnia. Landmines are basically explosive devices that are designed to explode when triggered by pressure or a tripwire. These devices are typically found on or just below the surface of the ground. The purpose of mines when used by armed forces is to disable any person or vehicle that comes into contact with it by an explosion or fragments released at high speeds.
