Statement of Mission The NorthWest Baseball Association of Georgia is committed to provide advanced levels of competitive baseball year round for players with the talent and desire to excel beyond recreational leagues into the High School and College programs. Statement of Philosophy The NorthWest Baseball Association (NWBA) believes that a competitive baseball program, in co-operation with a recreational program, will help develop the social and the athletic skills necessary to compete at higher levels. Competitive baseball should function as part of the player's social development. It should offer opportunities to develop fellowship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and good will. It should promote self-realization and all-around growth, and to encourage learning the qualities of good citizenship. Lessons including how to win and lose gracefully are an integral part of each team in our program. This association expects that each individual, including coaches, realize the value of participation, development, and sportsmanship without overemphasizing the importance of winning.

Introduction In the minds of many chiropractors, there is an ongoing battle in the chiropractic profession between two factions, one of which believes that the practice of chiropractic should be guided by philosophy and another which believes that science should guide the practice of chiropractic. It is my contention that a battle between philosophy and science does not and cannot exist within the chiropractic profession or any other discipline. I contend that the real battle is between the great majority of chiropractors who unknowingly allow dogmatism to guide the practice of chiropractic and the extremely rare variety of chiropractor who's practice of chiropractic is guided by philosophy and science. In this paper, I will attempt to utilize the so-called "Socratic method" to guide the presentation of information. The "Socratic method" is characterized by a demand for accurate definitions, clear thinking, and exact analysis (1,p.8-9). In Durant's commentary on Socrates, he states:

Meet the 2004 HLAI Candidates
Welcome The Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) is a not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1995. HLAI was formed through the joining of its predecessor organizations, the Latin American Bar Association and the Mexican American Lawyers Association, which had previously served the Hispanic legal community in Illinois since 1970.
HLAI currently represents and serves the interests of approximately 300 attorneys, judges, and law students in the state of Illinois. Our members come from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and include Mexican American, Puerto Rican, Cuban American, South and Central American practitioners and students.
HLAI invites all attorneys and law students who subscribe to its goals and philosophy to become members.Within HLAI are committees that focus on Communications, Community Outreach/Immigration, the Judiciary, Latina Lawyers, Finance, Membership Development, and Professional Development. These committees meet periodically and organize events, seminars, community outreach and other networking opportunities. In addition, HLAI maintains a referral directory that serves as a source of new business for our members. HLAI also interacts and holds joint programs with several related Hispanic organizations. In 1999, HLAI became a founding member of the Latino Professional Association, which is an umbrella organization of other Latino professional societies in the Chicago area.

Sandra Valenzuela, Candidate for Treasurer of HLAI
Felix M. Gonzalez, Candidate for HLAI Board I am a relative newcomer to HLAI politics as this is my first run for an office within the organization. I have chosen to run as I believe the board should be comprised of individuals who bring a fresh perspective to the direction of the organization. We have accomplished many things with some great leaders in the past. Moving forward, we should chart a clear path as we continue to establish ourselves as an organization of integrity, credibility, and service to the community. I feel very motivated and excited about the opportunity to work with board members to increase the visibility of the organization.
I have been involved with various service organizations since graduating from the University of Illinois in 1996 with a Philosophy degree, and from that same institution in 1999 with my Juris Doctor. I am most proud of my work with Fuerza, an organization of Hispanic Professionals. This organization has helped to give sizable scholarships to needy students in the Chicago area. I have assisted in the coaching of their Youth Leadership Conference debate team, and assisted with the Tax Assistance Program and filing of student aid applications. I have also given talks to Latino high school students regarding the need to attend college, and my professional experience with the Joliet Archdiocese youth outreach program. If elected to the board, one of my projects would be to develop more community outreach programs to educate our community about legal issues which affect and can improve their daily lives.

Editor's note: We're still getting letters responding to the "Point/Counterpoint" between Drs. Fred Barge and James Winterstein in the October 25, 1991 issue of "DC." As their debate obviously struck a responsive chord within the profession, we're presenting two more letters on this subject: one from Joseph Sasso, D.C., president of the Federation of Straight Chiropractic Organizations (FSCO) taking Dr. Winterstein to task; and a letter from Keith Charlton, D.C., former president of the Queensland Branch of the Australian Chiropractors' Association (1978-84), on the editorial review board of JMPT, Philosophical Constructs for the Chiropractic Profession, and the Back Letter for Chiropractors, addressing Dr. Barge's comments.
