and its Treatment
  • New non-surgical therapies
for treatment of early periodontal disease and
    maintenance of recurring severe disease
Recently several new drug or antibiotic-based products have been developed to enhance the effectiveness of periodontal therapy. See the published abstracts The traditional method of treating mild periodontal disease is to remove the plaque and tartar from below the gum line - referred to as scaling and root planing. These products are adjuncts to scaling and root planing, and are placed or injected in to the periodontal pocket, and allow the drug to diffuse in to the pocket over a period of time. These therapies are designed to treat mild, localized periodontal disease, and are not meant to replace the need for surgical correction when the pockets are deep.
In cases where there is a remaining deep periodontal pocket, typically six millimeters or deeper, scaling alone is not adequate and periodontal surgery is usually recommended.
  • We can say this about all the products?

New Whitening Gel, LaserWhite10 ™ Introduced by BIOLASE
BIOLASE, a leading company that develops and markets laser dentistry technology, recently announced the release of a new product. The LaserWhite 10™ Gel is an improved version of former BIOLASE whitening gel, and is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the LaserSmile ™ Whitening Program. This new gel decreases treatment time to 24-32 minutes and offers dramatic whitening results in just one treatment. Weight Loss Aided by Dental Device
A new dental device aimed at changing the way we eat has recently been introduced onto the market and may help with weight loss. Based on a common overeating theory – that Americans eat too quickly and do not feel satiated until overeating – the DDS System forces the user to take smaller bites because it blocks some space in the oral cavity. Marketers of the DDS System believe that it will prevent overeating, resulting in lower caloric intake and weight loss for its users. New Dental Laser Introduced by BIOLASE
The San Clemente, California medical technology company BIOLASE recently introduced a new laser product for cosmetic and other dental procedures. The DIOLASE PLUS will be offered to cosmetic surgeons and dentists who offer cosmetic, periodontal, and soft tissue procedures to their patients and can be used for cosmetic smile design, treating gum disease, and soft tissue procedures.

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What Is Gum Disease? Gum disease (also called periodontal disease) is an infection of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because gum disease is usually painless, however, you may not know you have it. Gum disease is caused by plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on the teeth. These bacteria create toxins that can damage the gums. In the early stage of gum disease, called gingivitis, the gums can become red, swollen and bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is still reversible and can usually be eliminated by daily brushing and flossing. In the more advanced stages of gum disease, called periodontitis, the gums and bone that support the teeth can become seriously damaged. The teeth can become loose, fall out or have to be removed by a dentist.

If you have swollen, bleeding gums, you may have periodontal disease. And the sooner we eliminate this menace in your mouth, the better. Left untreated, perio can cause serious loss of teeth and bone, and it has recently been linked to heart disease and stroke as well as premature and low weight babies.
Fortunately, we can stop this infection quickly and easily with laser therapy. It gently removes infected gum tissue and actually vaporizes the bacteria causing the infection. Very high tech and very effective.
