Instrumental Music The Instrumental Music program offers lessons on Violin, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Drums, Percussion, Piano, Voice, Guitar and Bass Guitar. It is a requirement that parents fill out an “Instrumental Music Enrolment Form” for their daughter to take lessons at St. Mary’s. Forms are available from the Student Office and should be returned to me ASAP. “The Arts Camp” Students have been given information
regarding the inaugural “Arts Camp” to be held at Mt. Tambourine from March 11 to 13. All members of the Showchoir, Concert Band and senior art students are invited. For the musicians, extensive rehearsals will prepare us for performances throughout the year. The art students will be working on processes and media techniques related to the Senior Syllabus requirements This camp will enable students to further develop their creative skills in an intensive, but relaxed environment. Please contact me (or Mrs Franz—Art Co-ordinator) if you require the information letter or further details. Payments are required on or before the 5/3/2004 and they are payable at the student office.

The Performing Arts Program is founded on the premise that the experience, understanding, and appreciation of artistic expression give value, meaning, and enjoyment to people’s lives.
Its mission is to support artistic expression and its enjoyment through grantmaking aimed at the sustainability of high-quality San Francisco Bay Area organizations and to achieve this through the following broad objectives:
    • Stimulating increased access to and participation in the arts
    • Increasing exposure to and understanding of diverse cultural expressions
    • Enhancing opportunities for creative expression for both artists and audiences
    • Promoting long-term organizational health
In order to reach these objectives, the Performing Arts Program has a strategy that includes:
    • Long-term investment through ongoing, multiyear operating support with the shared goal of artistic/programmatic vitality and organizational health
    • Use of mutually agreed upon, individually tailored incentives, when needed, to leverage organizational change such as endowment, capital, cash reserve, and challenge grants to enhance the stability of arts organizations
    • Addressing the challenges and opportunities that a fluctuating, highly competitive Bay Area real estate market has created for arts organizations that need affordable administrative, rehearsal, and performance space
