Our Vision To enhance our schools' capacity to advance equal and equitable teaching and learning opportunities for all children so they can learn what matters most. As the vision provides a constancy of purpose, the NEIU 19 business strategies are to:
  • Provide cost effective products, programs and services Improve the quality of products, programs and services continuously Locate and implement new opportunities for growth, i.e. doing the right things at NEIU right Increase productivity, i.e., timeliness of service, volume of work, collaboration within and across NEIU networks/departments, communicating with clients, etc.
Networks of Programs and Services Teaching and Learning with Primary Resources Management Information Services Project Based Learning Community Outreach Daily School Practices The NEIU 19 is divided into five Networks of Programs and Services. Networks respond and deliver programs and services as needed/requested by member districts. Relatedly, leadership to promote collaborative efforts within and across networks is imperative to foster an experimental attitude to create productive delivery systems. To that end, networks are not intended to be separate and distinct areas of responsibilities but primary brokers of programs and services across networks, NEIU 19 departments, the wider environment, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and other entities on local, regional, state and national levels.

POLITICS:
  • CYB-VERSION : Last week the Pennsylvania state department of education rejected five of five cyber charter school applications. Under new provisions, cyber school proposals can only be approved by the state. Resubmission to the department or appealing to the Charter School Appeals Board is still an option for those applications that were denied. As this is the first round of charter school applications to come before Pennsylvania's new leadership, these rejections are a likely indication of its mindset towards the charter school movement. Families are more concerned than ever how their school dollars are spent. And for most taxpayers, understanding school finances is nearly impossible . For many years now, school district financial information has been provided in a format to meet the needs of accountants and auditors. Makes sense - but what about us? Shouldn't there be an easier way to understand where our schools spend public dollars?
