Genealogy For even daughters of the swan can share
Something of every paddler's heritage — from W.B. Yeats's "Among School Children" This site lists the descendants of James Albert Swanhart (b. Apr 1837, Blair Co, Pennsylvania - about 1911, probably Cambria Co, Pennsylvania) and Martha Joanna McMullen (b. 27 Mar 1833, Newry, Blair Co, Pennsylvania - d. about 1910, probably Cambria Co, Pennsylvania) If your last name is Swanhart , you are descended from James Swanhart and Martha McMullen. James began to use the last name "Swanhart" sometime after the Civil War and by the time of his death in 1911, every one of his descendants was using it. We have never found a Swanhart who is not "one of the family." Surnames, Places and Topics Swanhart and McMullen Facts

    History and Genealogy
WELCOME Welcome to the History and Genealogy pages of Michael D. Allen and Barbara A. Bailey. This collection of information, anecdotes, and photographs represents our on-going efforts to research our ancestors at least back to the time of their immigration to the United States. The most intriguing result of our search is the discovery of how much the story of our ancestors is the story of the western world itself. Each era had a character and soul. Our forefathers from the 18 th century fled tyranny and despair in the hope to see a country born. Those from the 19 th century fled the famines and the economic collapse that battered the old world. Finally, those from the 20 th century fled the destruction of the great first war that finally smashed the lines separating the ancient cultures of Europe. It’s important to know where you came from, to see your ancestor’s face in a crumbling photograph, because in a small way, you yourself were staring into the lens of the camera, and into posterity. That trait, whether the color of her eyes or the sparkle of her character, still walks in you.

Helping You Climb Your Family Tree
Another of my Family Tree Sites
Our families are the nucleus of the larger world and where we find the food, shelter, protection, provision and social interaction in our early years. Much later in life when we begin to yearn for the protection and comfort of family, many of the special people of our youth are gone. To have known those people is a blessing since we share their biological genes and often their dreams. They are a part of who we are today, how we live and how we believe.
Information about the ancestors who have created our very beings will hopefully make us more secure in the understanding of their humanity. They were not just names in old Bibles or on tombstones. These people lived in a changing country and faced ordeals we can only read about. At the same time, they faced the age-old decisions about love, marriage, caring for a family, religion, education, sickness and death, the same as we face.
I have been researching my ancestors for over 25 years, and I am sharing some of what I have learned and hope it will help you. Use this material freely in your search. If you copy any of it in its entirety, please reference the source.
