Eugene Dixon, Jr., began his service to the state-owned universities in 1983. He retired in July 2000 and was named Chairman Emeritus by the Board. A graduate of The Meadowbrook School and The Episcopal Academy, Mr. Dixon attended Harvard University. He has received honorary degrees from Lafayette College, Widener University, Hahnemann Medical College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Drexel University, among others. Mr. Dixon is president of 665 Delta Corporation,Winter Harbor Food Services, Inc., and Ronalele Aviation. The chairman has served on several boards of trustees including Abington Memorial Hospital; The Episcopal Academy, where he is trustee emeritus; Temple University, where he is an honorary life trustee; and the Philadelphia Free Library, where he is trustee emeritus.
