Attorney General parrots music industry
By: BRADLEY J. FIKES - Staff Writer Bill Lockyer is California's attorney general. But judging from his mindless recitation of the entertainment industry's anti-piracy schtick, he's really a parrot.
Lockyer apparently wrote a letter railing against "peer-to-peer" file sharing, in which many computers hook up to distribute files among them. The undistributed letter, which was leaked to the press, identifies Lockyer as the author. His office neither confirms nor denies authorship, which I take as a no-contest plea. The letter also cites a discredited New York Times article that calls peer-to-peer "the Mexican border of virtual sexual exploitation."
E-mail and Web browsers are also suspect by that bizarre logic, say peer-to-peer advocates. Moreover, peer-to-peer is used for legitimate purposes. San Diego-based Lindows.com distributes its version of Linux through peer-to-peer software.
The Lockyer letter reads like propaganda because it is. Hidden information called "metadata" discovered in the Microsoft Word document points to a person in the Motion Picture Association of America as a source. The person in question denies writing the letter, but admits that Lockyer contacted him about the issue.

A General Discussion of Feather Plucking
Held by Dianalee Deter at Parrot Festival '99
and written by Shelly Lane
First, Take The Bird To A Vet
When a parrot first begins pulling or mutilating its feathers, Dianalee strongly believes the bird should immediately be taken to a qualified avian veterinarian for a complete work-up, including a CBC, to rule out any possible medical problems. I have to agree. There are medical causes of feather plucking and with the tests that are available, they are the easiest causes to determine. It just makes sense to go this route first.
Humidity
Regular bathing is necessary for feather health, and a bird that has dirty feathers and/or dry itchy skin is more prone to plucking. This is especially true in areas of the country that experience a lack of humidity. Remember that in many areas, lack of humidity is a seasonal problem so if your bird tends to pluck only at certain times of the year, this is a cause you might want to consider. Frequent showers or baths may help alleviate or prevent feather disorder behaviors in parrots, especially if you live in an area where lack of humidity in the air is an issue. Using a humidifier during the dry times of the year may also help.

Quaker Parrots:
Terrific Talkers for a Tiny Price
by Mattie Sue Athan Note: This article first appeared in Bird Talk magazine and is re-printed here with Mattie Sue Athan's permission. When naming the best talking parrots, African greys and yellow naped Amazons often head the lists. But these are pricey, long-lived species involving a large initial investment and a couple of generations of planning and commitment. For a sturdy bird with a more reasonable price and life expectancy, many who fancy a talking bird are now turning to the quaker parrot. At first glance, the quaker or monk parrot (Myiopsytta monachus) does not appear to be particularly compelling, but it's plain colors and unimpressive size mask a truly exciting personality. Among other things, it's not unusual for this intelligent little bundle of energy to use human words with understanding before it's six months old. In a recent survey of 64 quaker parrot owners, three reported that their birds spoke their first human word at six weeks. Little wonder that in the states where it's available, the quaker parrot is rapidly overtaking the cockatiel as most frequently acquired hand-fed baby parrot.

Introduction to Psittacine Birds
General:
The Psittaciformes (parrots, lories, cockatoos, parakeets) are an unique order within the birds of this world. In taxonomic systems they are normally filed between the Columbiformes (Pidgeons) and Cuculiformes (Cuckoos and Touracos). The psittacine birds exist in all shapes and sizes. The size varies from 8.5 cm in Pygmy Parrots to 100 cm in the Macaws and the colors from a dull dark brown (Vasa Parrot) to bright colorful mixtures of red, green, blue and yellow. (Sun Conures, Lories). Often sexual dimorphism is absent but also in some genera/species very obvious.
Typical:
One of their typical sign is the big head with a bended strong beak. The upper part is curved downward, ending in a sharp tip and fits over an upward curved lower mandible with a broad front. The upper mandible of the beak is movable against the head with an extra angle and muscles, while in other birds this mandible is blocked to the skull and more or less unmovable. The special mechanism of muscles for the beak (crosswise up and down) gives great power.
The broad and fleshy tongue is strengthened by a horny layer under the tip. Beak and tongue together make an excellent tool for cracking seeds, wood carving, digging holes etc. or are used as "third hand" while climbing and to examine things.

A letter to the Attorney General.
Your Honor, the Attorney General, On my question: "Why it happened?" - MikiSicky responded that I misunderstood his statement - "no unwanted guests can penetrate into my house". To Indeed, under the term "unwanted guests" he meant unwanted cats and dogs. My doubts about non-invited bad humans was winded out when he explained me that I should not worry about it because by a new government law - human to human is a true friend and as a 100% proof to this statement - he swore on my XP system manual. Only unwanted cats and dogs, from his words, can tremendously hurt my house. Even though I never heard about it, I agreed. How could I imagine that a guy who fraudulently was ordering sausages from my XP refrigerator when I was not at home - in reality, was a hacker's dog? I did not understand how an XP door can recognize the dog as me, but it is definitely not the guest that I want to see. MikiSicky calmed me down by the news that donkeys surely cannot penetrate into my house. Because by nature - a donkey is slightly different from me and, therefore, should not be as smart as dogs. Thus, it is 100% guaranteed that an XP door probably, for sure, will stop a donkey and promised me a new XP security upgrade against dogs.

Family: Psittacidae Genus: Amazona Guide to a Happy, Healthy Amazon Parrot
Amazon parrots are delightful pets and beautiful birds!
Amazon parrots are highly intelligent birds, very outgoing and renowned talkers. They adapt well to captivity, adjusting easily to their cage or aviary. A single bird will tame quickly, bond to it's keeper, and may soon begin to mimic the sounds of its keepers' voice as well as many other sounds in it's environment. They like to preen and be preened, and just enjoy your company in general. Males and females make equally good pets. Description: These stocky green birds are medium to large in size with a short, somewhat rounded tail. The identification of the different Amazon species is aided by the brilliant splashes of color you see on their heads, napes, necks, wings and tail feathers. The variations of these 'splashes of color' range from reds and yellows to blues and even lilacs. Each species has it own striking coloration. Amazon parrots are beautiful birds!

3, but the general constraint parrots and hawks must be chosen equally often in the long run. indicates the docent must even out the choices on average.
http://osm7.cs.byu.edu/OSA/generalConst.html
General Constraints
General constraints specify information about what is and is not valid. They differ from other constraints in having no restrictions on means or form of expression. General constraints can be informal, human-language statements, or they can be fully formalized as algebraic statements or first-order logic. General constraints can apply to ORM's, OBM's, state nets , OIM's, or any combination of them.
General Constraints in Object-Relationship Models
The Botswana Youth Zoo keeps both rhesus monkeys and baboons in the same enclosure. Suppose that there must be at least twice as many rhesus monkeys as baboons, otherwise the baboons may kill the monkeys. We can easily show that baboons and the monkeys are both kept in the Monkey House, as in Figure 1 , but we need a general constraint to express the relation between the number of baboons and monkeys at the BY Zoo.
Figure 1. General constraint on number of baboons and monkeys We could have stated the constraint more formally by using variables in the participation constraints and giving an algebraic relation, as in

Bird watching holidays
Survival of the fattest Feeding garden birds source: Mike Clark
Country Smallholding January 2004 p39 Garden birds can be helped to survive by feeding them during winter months, starting in November, as food elsewhere becomes scarce. The birds can come to depend on food you put out, so they need feeding until April, and can benefit from food put out all year. Birds' needs increase during very harsh weather, so it helps to put food out twice a day, in the morning and early in the afternoon. The quantity needed depends on what the birds eat, and they are being fed too much if excess food accumulates. Some foods, like bread, fat, and peanuts, can harm baby birds, so it's best to avoid them in spring and summer. It is better to feed good quality bird food than scraps, though some home-prepared food is well-received, like unsalted, cooked rice, pastry, cut up fresh and dried fruits, and also fat outside the breeding season.

A WONDERFUL ACCOMPLISHMENT
This is a must read for people who love parrots and freedom and love to study the connundrum of jobs/captive life. The author was ultimately "freed" by enslavement by the flock/project. Anybody can find natural and spiritual lessons in this wonderful book. Wild life isn't a picnic, and the quest for "freedom" can imprison the mind. Even those who live with companion parrots often fail to establish the rapport Mark Bittner achieved with a group of wild parrots.
I saw it at the library and just had to read it!

60. General Care Articles/Talk/Weaning/Aloe/General/Entertainment/Breeding
It has been said that Eclectus parrots are the easiest to breed and the hardest to feed, and there is some truth in that old adage.
http://www.landofvos.com/articles/breeding.html
"What's crimson and clover and sweet all over?" Red and green Eclectus parrot babies is the answer, of course! Of the many parrot species, Eclectus babies are without a doubt the cutest and cuddliest of them all. They are well known by breeders for their sweetness. Those new to the species might not consider Eclectus babies "beautiful" before they are fully feathered, but only because they have not had the privilege of their company. It has been said that Eclectus parrots are the "easiest to breed and the hardest to feed," and there is some truth in that old adage. Once a pair starts producing fertile eggs and hatching their babies, the biggest problem is forcing them to take a break. The description of "hardest to feed" refers to the limited feeding response of the babies. Parrot breeders who are accustomed to feeding Macaw babies that pump so hard that they could swallow the syringe, usually are shocked to discover that Eclectus babies sometimes just sit there like a lump, with very little if any pumping action. If the baby is hungry, it will swallow the food and if not, the formula will simply drool down its chest. Feeding can be a messy proposition that takes longer than the feeding of almost any other baby parrot. Although Eclectus parrots truly are easy to breed once they start producing, it can be difficult getting them to that point. Breeding any parrot species is a venture not to be taken lightly. One must first consider whether or not they have the time, energy, and resources necessary for the commitment to this project. It can take time and effort to obtain healthy, non-hybridized specimens of one's favorite Eclectus subspecies. It sounds easy if you believe that the adult birds will lay fertile eggs the first clutch, incubate them until they hatch, feed the babies from day one through fledging, and that you will immediately find a good family to adopt the babies. It sounds easy if you believe that when you want your birds to take a break from production, you simply will remove the nestbox and have them switch gears and become pets again with no desire to raise more babies.
