MISSION STATEMENT
To educate and assist criminal justice staff and the community in understanding interstate compact law and act as the central authority in the regulation of the transfer of adult offenders placed on probation and parole. Old Compact Parole and Probation Compact
Administrator's Association (PPCAA)
New Compact Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision PURPOSE
The purpose of the Interstate Compact for adult offender supervision is to maximize public safety by addressing the transfer of supervision requirements of the member states and territories. Parole boards, courts and probation agencies are not able to handle the planning for and supervision of probationers and parolees when their residence and family resources exist outside their political boundaries. Most required levels of community based supervision are available through the cooperation of Interstate Offices in the transfer of supervision. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Supervision of offenders on community supervision (probation) or parole, who meet specific eligibility criteria, may be transferred to another state under the Interstate Compact system. All 50 of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. territories participate as members of the Compact. The Texas Probation and Parole Interstate Compact is administered through the TDCJ Interstate Compact Office.

Adult Division - Frequently Asked Questions Printer Friendly View Q. What is Probation? A. When convicted of a crime, the law says you will be punished by serving time in prison for felony offenses or in the County Jail for misdemeanor offenses. The Court has the option of suspending this time and placing you on probation. The Court will order you to abide by certain conditions while on probation, which might include serving part of your time in jail. If you successfully complete your probation term, you will not need to serve the remainder of your jail time or your prison time. Q. How long will I be on Adult Probation? A. The Court determines the period of probation at time of sentencing. It usually does not surpass three years for misdemeanor offenses or five years for felony offenses. Q. Why do I have drug testing orders? A. Drug/alcohol testing will be ordered when the offense or your background shows drug/alcohol problems.
