The Twelve-Month Pregnancy By Barry Herman, M.D., Susan Perry, Ph.D. WebMD Medical Reference from "The Twelve-Month Pregnancy" Julie, 29, came to my office when her period was two weeks late. She took a pregnancy test and was thrilled to find out it was positive. She was in the midst of calling her husband when she stopped. "I took sinus medication for a few days last week," she said to me, looking panicked. "What will it do to my baby?" I was able to reassure Julie in this instance a few sinus tablets were not very likely, I told her, to have an adverse effect as long as she stopped taking them immediately. But had Julie come in to see me before she and her husband began trying to conceive, she could have saved herself some worry. A healthy pregnancy really begins before you conceive. Unless you're an elephant, of course, pregnancy lasts only about nine months. Yet the weeks prior to becoming pregnant and the early weeks of pregnancy are much more crucial than anyone used to believe. I and other doctors use the concept of the twelve-month pregnancy to emphasize how important those preconception weeks are and to dramatize the idea that a healthy pregnancy does indeed start before you get pregnant. By adopting a healthy life-style as soon as you begin trying to conceive no smoking, no drinking, no unnecessary exposure to toxic chemicals, avoiding or treating infections, consulting with your doctor before taking any medications, staying fit, and eating well you can give your baby a head start toward a healthy life.

Women for Co-parenting
Why Would Women Care about Co-parenting
When they Get Sole Custody in 85% of Divorces?

Because that's down from 90% ten years ago. Moref women are learning what men have known: non-custodial is non-parent. Without operational involvement, you drop from your children's lives. Because of the pressure now on women to have careers. Single mothers need the constant involvement of a parenting partner, whatever may be their personal feelings about him. Because most women do NOT use their children as a power base from which to beat their ex (and don't think others should be allowed to, either). Most women care deeply for the well being of their children, which includes a fully rounded upbringing by the two genders that created them, irrespective of what a villain their ex may seem to be now.

E-mail: A brief History of Dr. Maria Montessori: DR. MONTESSORI'S CONTRIBUTIONS
Dr. Maria Montessori, M.D., who made amazing discoveries of the potential development of children - physical, mental, psychological, emotional, and spiritual - gave us the best advice of all for raising children. Her continual recommendation to parents and to teachers was to "Follow the Child." Her genius was an ability to teach others to observe even the tiniest and seemingly most insignificant details of the child's behavior and to interpret them to discover the child's needs. Each child develops differently and a parent, with the help of Dr. Montessori's suggestions, can learn to facilitate a child's growth into a healthy, balanced, generous, happy, and wise human being.
Through most of human history, extended families stayed together and the wisdom of child rearing was passed down from generation to generation. This is no longer the case.

BALANCED PARENTING The Problem With Humans In Twenty-Five Words Or Less Traditionally, Mother gets to the children first, and raises males to do her dirty work through sexual addiction, demoralization, and fear of rejection. The Consequences Of The Problem In Twenty-Five Words Or Less The problem is caused by cheating , which disrupts orderliness, causing the onset of corruption, which is decay and death of the social (and individual) organism. The Answer For Humans In Twenty-Five Words Or Less Balanced Parenting : Both the Male Parent and the Female Parent will have equal, daily access to the children from the delivery room forward. The Benefits Of The Answer In Twenty-Five Words Or Less Promotes orderliness in the individual and social organism, which is fundamental to life and growth.  This is the bridge from Homo maniacus to Homo sapiens The Number-One Axiom For The Entire World And For All Time MOTHER GETS TO THE CHILDREN FIRST Welcome to the real Balanced Parenting web site (coined independently of Adler, thank you very much!).  I wanted to start you off with the above pithy sayings, as they are packed with the meaning that I hope to unfold to you in great detail through words and pictures as you progress through these pages.  (Some of the writings in tis site use the term "Democratic Parenting."  It is syomoymous with "Balanced Parenting.")  Make no mistake that I consider my work here to be the closest thing to a panacea for all the human-caused problems that we now or ever will face.  You are very likely never to have seen information like this before.  I haven't, and I've seen a lot!  Some of it might scare you; some if it might make you mad.  But all of it will change you.  If you're ready for that, let's begin.

Parenting With Dignity now on DVD!
Parenting with Dignity teaches parents how to instill a sense of responsible decision making in their kids. A positive approach to parenting that is simple, easily understood, applicable in any situation and incredibly intuitive. The premise of the Parenting with Dignity philosophy is... " Our children will make all of the most important decisions in their lives on their own . As parents, the only thing we can do is teach them how to make good decisions".
Get beyond crisis management
A five-point plan for raising responsible, independent kids In this ground breaking program, the author, Mac Bledsoe, urges parents to rethink their approach to discipline. As an example, he recommends that parents let kids make some of their own decisions to experience the consequences early on. In this way, they will learn to act responsibly when left alone, and become more independent when they grow older. Our children don't need to be "fixed",
