The following destinations are just a few of the many tourism offerings that Panama has to offer. The city of Panama has plenty in the way of museums and historic sites, while the interior region and pacific and atlantic coasts provide numerous destinations for your enjoyment. We will be adding new destinations and attractions as we develop the site in the coming weeks. Amador Causeway - The Amador Causeway, located just outside of Panama City and once the home of the US Army base, has quickly become one of Panama's most desirable tourist areas. The Causeway itself connect three small islands with the mainland, Naos Island, Perico Island and Flamenco Island. Visited by both foreigners and locals alike, the Causeway has enormous tourist potential, with several large projects having already been completed and many planned for the future. Bocas del Toro - Perhaps, the countries most popular tourist destination, the islands of Bocas del Toro are filled with countless excursions and warm tropical climate. Scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, bird watching, and sun bathing are just a few of the many activities one can enjoy while visiting Bocas. Bridge of the Americas - With an elevation of 118 meters (354 ft.) and width of 1,669 meters (5,007 ft.), the Bridge of the Americas connects the two land masses separated due to the construction of The Panama Canal. Built by the United States, at a cost of $20 million dollars, the Bridge of the Americas now forms an integral part of the Pan-American Highway, connecting both North and South America.

The Isthmus of Panama has been a source of several different forms for quite some time, separating both the world's two largest oceans, as well as North and South America. The Panamanian is: friendly, fun, tolerant, proud and eager to please, with a host of professional services directed towards the visitor. It was this discovery that would not only serve as the foundation, but continue to shape the identity of the Panama people. The Spanish colony permitted the integration of the indigenous tribes, black African slaves and white Europeans, creating a very unique, special blend of cultures and physical characteristics. These distinct features are well represented throughout Panama, most notably among the creollos and mulattos. In fact, there is a commonly repeated expression, which when translated into English, reads "the best thing that the Spanish left on our soil were the mulattas". Their beauty and sensuality that results from the delicate union between blacks and whites is very noticeable. The varied ethnic cultures and physical characteristics also generated folklore, combining African drums with European lyrics and guitar playing. Along the Caribbean coast one would encounter dances, accompanied by decorative costumes, paying homage their loved ones, or otherwise narrating the lurid conditions of the slaves. En Portobelo, the principal port of the Caribbean, one could witness the legendary fairs that grouped the commercial floats of the "Rio de la Plata", accompanied by European floats of products shuttled by mule. These events helped reaffirm the culture, hospitality and service oriented demeanor that is so typically Panamanian.

Traditional culture of Panama village
This region still exhibits traces of an agrarian tradition that is many thousands of years old, composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable farmers. The region is also home to an extraordinary genetic diversity, particularly renewable forest products from perennial species and from plants of known medicinal value. Many Panama villagers still maintain the cultural knowledge associated with this region. Some indigenous doctors in the region still transmit their knowledge orally. Their memories hold together a vast storehouse of recipes, mostly in verse, which they call a Wattoruwa In Panama tribal knowledge is still passed on through activity in institutions like the Kamatha or threshing floor, the pela or watch hut, and in war games such as Pora Po l and Ankeliya; performed annually. Hereditary skills are looked upon as Rajakariya or duty. Each villager specializes in a particular function, and together the whole village in consensus maintains their cultural calendar of ritual duty understood as protection of Nature's balance. Each villager has a unique importance. This cultural memory can still be realized in this region.

Bordered by the Caribbean and the Pacific, the Isthmus of Panama is a land-bridge uniting South and North America. Flora and fauna historically endemic to South and North America have mixed and evolved over time in Panama, resulting in tremendous bio-diversity. This relatively small country has identified more than 900 species of birds, 1500 species of trees, 10,000 species of plants and an incredible variety of insects which will amaze you on a trip through its diverse ecosystems and landscapes.

Art often represents the artist’s vision of the world around them. So is true of the molas masterfully created by the Kuna women who experience the beauty of the rainforests of Panama. Molas are traditionally colorful panels of cloth, which make up part of the Kuna woman’s blouse. Two panels, usually very similar, but seldom identical, make up the front and rear lower portion of the blouse.

Kuna Background and History
The Kuna of Panama inhabit the Comarca de Kuna Yala which has been a semi-autonomous territory with the county of Panama since 1925. This region consists of more than 365 islands and a strip of land on the Atlantic coast of Panama. Kuna women are known for their colorful customs which consists of a patterned blue cotton wrapped skirt, red and yellow head scarf, arm and leg beads, gold nose rings and earrings ant the intricately sewn mola panel blouse. The mola panels of the blouse are hand-woven in a reverse appliqué technique using several layers of differently colored cotton. The mola may also be decorated with very fine embroidery. Mola panels have become much sought after and collected examples of textile folk art. The artistry of a mola reflects a synthesis of traditional Kuna culture with the influences of the modern world. Molas developed when Kuna women had access to store-bought yard goods and they are often inspired by modern graphics such as political posters, labels, pictures from books, and modern technology as well themes from traditional Kuna legends. Kuna women spend hours sewing panels for their blouses. When they tire of a particular blouse, the disassemble it and sell the molas to collectors. The most valued molas are the ones that have actually been worn as part of a Kuna woman's costume. Of course, the Kunas, being very creative people, have adapted the mola technique to other uses and now produce mola designs on a variety of useful objects such as pot holders, bags, eyeglass cases, stuffed animals, Christmas decorations, and pop can insulators!
