102. Lancut Distillery, Poland - The Orthodox Church Art Collection
Samples of the collection, which includes icons, banners, processional crosses, textiles, and liturgical vestments.
http://www.lancutdistillery.polishvodka.com.pl/orthodox.htm
The Orthodox Church Art Collection
In 1945-1947 the communist rulers of the People's Republic of Poland deported about six hundred thousand Ukrainians from south-eastern Poland to the USSR or to the east and north.
The depopulated lands witnessed the premeditated destruction of many valuable
objects of art-Eastern Orthodox and Greek Catholic churches.
The Lancut collection contains icons, banners, processional crosses, textiles and liturgical vestments rescued from this pogrom.
This collection of Orthodox church art, the largest in Poland, is stylistically of exceptional interest, as it was created in an area where Byzantine and Latin influences met. The collection includes precious icons from the fifteenth through eighteenth centuries.

Orthodox Christians for Life
Resource Page For 2000 years the Orthodox Church has taken a strong stand for the Sanctity of Life and against abortion. Within these pages you will find information from throughout the life of the Church concerning what the Church has taught and teaches to this day. At the 9th All-American Council, the OCA designated the Sunday preceeding January 22 "Sanctity of Life Sunday". On the Sanctity of Life page you will discover information from the Orthodox Church in America concerning this annual remembrance of the Sanctity of ALL human life. We've also included a Molieban (Prayer Service) for the Victims of Abortion . This prayer service is that prepared and used by the Oklahoma Orthodox Christians for Life. Many thanks to Reader Danial Lieuwan for getting us in contact with Fr. Anthony Nelson and the Oklahoma Orthodox Christians for Life. If you need printed copies of the Molieban, they may be purchased from OOCL. Proceeds go to support the activities of the OOCL. Then, on the Saints and the Church Speak Out page, you will discover what Saints in the early Church, many of whom found themselves in a cultural setting not unlike our own, had to say about abortion and life.

Orthodox Judaism
Orthodox Judaism is not a unified movement with a single governing body, but many different movements adhering to common principles. All of the Orthodox movements are very similar in their observance and beliefs, differing only in the details that are emphasized. They also differ in their attitudes toward modern culture and the state of Israel. They all share one key feature: a dedication to Torah , both Written and Oral
Origins of the Movement
Historically, there was no such thing as Orthodoxy; in fact, you find the particular term is used primarily in North America (elsewhere the distinction is primarily between "more observant" and "less observant"). The specific term "Orthodox Judaism" is of rather recent origin and is used more as a generic term to differentiate the movements following traditional practices from the Liberal Jewish movements.
Theology
Orthodox Judaism views itself as the continuation of the beliefs and practices of normative Judaism, as accepted by the Jewish nation at Mt. Sinai and codified in successive generations in an ongoing process that continues to this day.
Orthodox Judaism believes that both the Written and Oral Torah are of divine origin, and represent the word of Gd. This is similar to the view of the Conservative movement, but the Orthodox movement holds that such information (except for scribal errors) is the exact word of God and does not represent any human creativity or influence. For the Orthodox, the term "Torah" refers to the "Written Law" as interpreted by the "Oral Law," interpreted in turn by the Rishonim (Medieval commentators), and eventually codified in the Codices:

First Visit to an Orthodox ChurchTwelve Things I Wish I'd Known
by Frederica Mathewes-Green
Orthodox worship is different! Some of these differences are apparent, if perplexing, from the first moment you walk in a church. Others become noticeable only over time. Here is some information that may help you feel more at home in Orthodox worshiptwelve things I wish I'd known before my first visit to an Orthodox church. 1. What's all this commotion?
During the early part of the service the church may seem to be in a hubbub, with people walking up to the front of the church, praying in front of the iconostasis (the standing icons in front of the altar), kissing things and lighting candles, even though the service is already going on. In fact, when you came in the service was already going on, although the sign outside clearly said "Divine Liturgy, 9:30." You felt embarrassed to apparently be late, but these people are even later, and they're walking all around inside the church. What's going on here? In an Orthodox church there is only one Eucharistic service (Divine Liturgy) per Sunday, and it is preceded by an hour-long service of Matins (or Orthros) and several short preparatory services before that. There is no break between these servicesone begins as soon as the previous ends, and posted starting times are just educated guesses. Altogether, the priest will be at the altar on Sunday morning for over three hours, "standing in the flame," as one Orthodox priest put it.
