The Boundaries of the Church: An Orthodox Debate - Jesus prayed that his disciples might be one as he and his Father are one (John 17:21). He wished them to be one flock under one shepherd (John 17:21), guided into all the truth by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). By participation in the life of Jesus, Christians are reconciled to God and become one in Christ (Eph. 2:13-18). This unity is so intense that there is in them neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor freeman, male nor female (Gal. 3:28). Learn more

15. Russian Religion
A hyperlinked overview of history and theology.
http://www.departments.bucknell.edu/russian/religion.html
ussia was originally a pagan nation; Russians believed in a variety of major and minor gods . Christianity was first introduced in Russia in 988 by Prince Vladimir whose grandmother, Olga was converted to the Eastern Orthodox faith in Constantinople, according to tradition. The religion in Constantinople at the time was Eastern Catholicism or Orthodoxy (from Greek orthos doxos 'true faith'), hence the Russian Church is Orthodox rather than Roman Catholic. By 1051 hermits were settling in caves along the bank of the Dnepr river beneath what would become the oldest monastery in Russia, the Kiev Pechersk Monastery . The seat of the Church is now located in the Trinity-St. Sergiev Monastery in Sergiev Posad (formerly Zagorsk ). An extensive album of color photographs of churches, cathedrals, and monasteries in Moscow is maintained by Mikhail Soutchanski of Toronto. An extremely interesting resource is the Allegheny College Russian History site. It contains a chronology of Russian culture plus discussions of icons, iconostases, and saints, all illustrated by a the rich gallery of icons owned by the college. Bethel College and Seminary maintains a site with the complete Russian Bible plus a rich array of religioius other writings and links . Click it out. The History of Religion by the Irkutsk Express

Ecumenical Relations With Reformed Churches
A historical study focussing especially on the Canadian Reformed Churches
by R.E. Pot
"It is concerning precisely this federation, the OPC, that an explosion of articles and letters has appeared in church magazines of the Canadian Reformed Churches in the last two decades. Synods inevitably find themselves confronted with appeals and letters concerning the OPC, and more and more pages in the Acts of Synods attest to a scrutinizing spotlight on the OPC … To one who has only recently placed his roots in the Canadian Reformed Churches, and hence somewhat ignorant about developments in the North American ecclesiastical scene, the amount of discussion concerning the OPC was a little perplexing. Why all the attention?" - excerpt from the Introduction This paper was initially prepared as a paper in April 1995 for a church history course at the Theological College of the Canadian Reformed Churches. Minor revisions were made in March 1998 to incorporate developments prior to the convening of General Synod Fergus in May 1998. It aims to help come to a greater understanding of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church by examining its roots and history. It gives special attention to its ecumenical contacts with other Reformed Churches, especially the development in its relationship with the Canadian Reformed Churches. May it serve in giving us a greater understanding of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and an eye for the Lord’s work in her history.

AYECHA
Support, information and resources for Jews of Color who seek to broaden, enrich and share their knowledge and practice of Judaism. Ayecha is formed to aid, nourish and support Jews of Color, and individuals interested in supporting and learning about Jews of Color, in their journeys toward service of G-d, through Judaism. While membership in this organization is not exclusive to Jews of Color, the purpose of this list is to offer information, support and resources to Jewish men and women of this distinction, who have recently entered Judaism or are seeking to broaden and enrich their current knowledge and experience in Jewish living. Ayecha aims to support Jews of Color in valuing and developing the gifts that they bring to the Jewish community. We also aim to facilitate the development of sensitivity and understanding between Jews of various distinctions, and affirm the importance of each individual Jew in the fulfillment of our collective Jewish destiny.
Our current projects include:
  • The development of an advisory board of esteemed Rabbis and community affiliates, in the United States and Israel, who are willing to lend their support to Ayecha and its efforts to increase awareness and sensitivity in Jewish communities.
