I was participating in the 15th annual Trail of History in McHenry County, Illinois (anyone in the Chicago area: if you are at all interested in pioneer life, check this out next october.) During the mock battle on saturday, my slick-soled buckle shoes hit a patch of wet grass, and down I went. Near as I can tell, my pistol butt slammed into my lower lip, prying my right front tooth and the one next to it out at about a 45 degree angle. I looked like I was wearing those jacked up "cletus" teeth you get for holloween. Well I had to take an ambulance ride to the ER, then have a $2400 visit to a orthodontal surgeon in Lake Geneva, WI. Now I have an arch bar (looks like braces but at the gumline, not mid-tooth) holding my teeth in place til they heal.
