    OREGON SUMMER CAMPS FOR KIDS
    h o m e
    e - m a i l
The Oregon Summer Camps for Kids Guide published by the Oregonian is no longer online. This link offers information that may be helpful.
It's once again the time of year to prepare to pack up a weeks worth of the kids underwear and send them off to camp so you, the parents, can catch your breath from the little monsters.
There is so much more to choose from each year that making the choice of where to send your little ones is becoming very challenging. Parents and their children need to shop carefully for the right camp in the same way you would for a school or child care.
The camping association, consultants and others give these suggestions in matching summer campers with the right camps:
    • Figure out if the child is ready for camp.
Usually children aren't ready for overnight resident camps until they are at least 7, have been on several sleepovers without middle-of-the-night "rescue" calls and express a real interest in going. For younger kids and those not quite ready, day or family camps are a good option.
Determine what children and parents want and need.
