    http://www.metgroup.com/02_pro_ola.html
"The Oregon Library Association's goal was to triple participation in Oregon's statewide Summer Reading Program by creating a major outreach campaign. In our first year with Metropolitan Group, we doubled participation in Summer Reading, garnered extensive statewide media coverage and raised nearly $150,000 from major sponsors and foundations. MG has been a tremendously valuable partner, guiding us through every step of planning and implementation. Thanks to their efforts, Summer Reading is a vital and growing program." Anne Van Sickle
    President
Oregon Library Association Objective: To increase statewide participation in the Oregon Library Association's Summer Reading Program to over 100,000 youths by 2005; to position Summer Reading as a premier statewide literacy program for children and young adults; to develop a sustainable funding strategy by securing corporate and foundation donors; and to build a base of support for future funding.

Try L-Net , live information service. Real help. Right now. From Oregon's Libraries. L-Net's Background
Oregon's statewide digital reference service, began in January 2003 as a pilot project called Answerland. The idea for the pilot project came from the Oregon State Library's 2002 E-reference task force and the Oregon Library Association's Vision 2010 Call to Action. The premise for the service is that Oregon's libraries can serve our communities well by connecting Oregon citizens directly to reference librarians online. Collaboration ensures that we do this efficiently and effectively. For more information about the project, hours of service, the participating libraries, or to use the service, please visit our Web site at Oregon Libraries Network BACK TO TOP

    Oregon Genealogical Libraries and Collections
    By Connie Lenzen, CGRS
An article prepared for the January 2001 NGS Newsmagazine. Northwesterners have roots that connect to all the states in the United States and from many foreign countries. Genealogical library holdings reflect this diversity. Libraries close to the conference site with comprehensive genealogy collections are described in this article. People come to Oregon to research their Oregon Trail relatives. Oregon's early settlers left family and friends "back home." As years passed, correspondence decreased and eventually ceased. It is now time to trace these relatives and to see if they left information that will aid your genealogical research. A summary of major holdings, the hours, public transportation options, and admission fees for the five largest Oregon historical/genealogical libraries/archives are given in this article. Three repositories are in Portland, the conference site, and two are in Salem, Oregon - an hour away from Portland. The 2001 NGS conference theme is "Explore New Frontiers." Your ancestors and relatives who came to Oregon, who explored the old frontiers, invite you to come to Portland, Oregon, May 16th through 19th, 2001 to "Explore New Frontiers" and to locate the records they left for you.
