Since time immemorial, we have lived on the Columbia River Plateau. Specifically, our homeland is the area now known as northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington. Our three bands were brought together on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, established by a Treaty with the US Government in 1855. We were united as a single tribal government in 1949 when our leaders adopted our Constitution and By-laws.
We currently have over 2,446 tribal members. We are a small group of people who continue to care for and live on the land of our ancestors. We are a small group of people who are doing great things for ourselves and our neighbors...

OregonVoting.org, a public service of Del Information Services, provides news and information about the Oregon election process including present and proposed law and voting practices. We invite you to read our report on the November 2000 Oregon election. It includes detailed data on under and over-votes tabulated in each of Oregon's 36 counties, their percentage of total votes cast, and the voting system used by each. In addition, our Voting Systems Report provides information on systems including those that use the Internet. Controversies in the 2000 election, such as the Florida punch card ballot controversy, have energized the public to demand reforms to ensure that votes cast are counted and are done so accurately. We support efforts to ban punch card ballots everywhere. We believe that your vote should and must count Democracy at Risk Fortune Magazine declared paperless voting the worst technology of 2003 because no recount is possible in disputes.

Welcome to Pendleton OR, the Round-Up City. In cooperation with the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce , our friendly merchants and citizens, and our friends of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation , we will do everything possible to see that you have a most enjoyable and relaxing visit in the greater Pendleton area. Pendleton is rich in heritage and world famous for the original Pendleton Woolen Mills , along with the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon show. I urge you to visit Pendleton Underground Tours, which is rapidly becoming one of the premier tourist attractions in the Pacific Northwest and to date has had visitors from over 100 foreign countries. I recommend a visit to the Umatilla County Courthouse to view the recently dedicated clock tower and to admire the 100-year-old Seth Thomas clockworks. And check out the Pendleton Convention Center for your organization's next convention, meeting or trade show. Just as the travelers on the Old Oregon Trail paused and rested here before going on to the Willamette Valley and other points, we hope you will pause, rest and relax during your stay, as you will find the Pendleton area rich in the warmth and friendliness of the old west. As we say in Pendleton, "Let 'er Buck!" Bob Ramig, Mayor
